Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
According to a U.K. poll, Star Wars is the #1 movie for men to watch when they’re sick. The women polled prefer Dirty Dancing. (via TFN)
Now I don’t know about everyone else out there, but my default sick mode for television watching is ‘whatever the hell is on’… How else would I ever have ended up watching the original Battlestar Galactica?
In other news, it’s time to stuff another ballot box for ROTS.
China is sending Taiwan two pandas and among the suggestions for names are “Tuantuan” and “Yuanyuan,” both of which mean ‘union.’ For us Star Wars fans, the association may be a tad different…

This young actor first emerged to great acclaim in Mark Rydell’s 2001 television James Dean biopic, but his Tristan performance is riddled with so many Anakinisms you’ll think he’s auditioning for The Hayden Christensen Story.

The Sci-Fi Channel and Stan Lee are hooking up for Who Wants to be a Superhero? I don’t know how much mileage there is in this concept, but I really, really want them to team up with Project Runway. Somebody has to smite General Zod Santino before I start throwing stuff at my TV.

Variety reports that Episode III Costume Designer Trisha Biggar has been nominated by the Costume Designers Guild for Excellence in Fantasy Film. She’s up against the costume designers of Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Sin City. Hyperspace members can read the full story here.

The Sci-Fi Channel has picked up the new Doctor Who after all. The show will be part of their Friday line-up, and the American DVD launch has been postponed to July.
“Guys and Dolls” seems to be in good hands with newcomers Sarah Lancashire and Nigel Harman receiving generally good reviews.
Harman admits that taking over for McGregor left him with “big shoes to fill”:
“He (McGregor) wrote me a note on my mirror which I kept on there which said ‘brother Harman, you’re dice’, which is kind of a variation of a line from the show which is brilliant,” he said.
The play is currently taking bookings through September 2006.
As previously reported, ROTS has a shot at three Oscars. An interesting post on a USA Today blog discusses the odds and offers fans a opportunity to chime in.
