Bloomberg News article on Singapore mentions Lucasfilm’s animation facility. In addition to the animated TV series, Lucasfilm manager Christian Kubsch claims that they plan to produce a feature film in the studio as well. Interesting…
Easy Rider
A fairly extensive interview with Ewan McGregor. (And yes, the ‘stache is for a role.)
From the Blogside
Ratcreature considers the ‘Chosen One’ prophecy.
Over on Blogwarz, Sabrina Fried on reaction to her Revenge of the Sith Oscar column, while T’bone considers Order 66.
I’m not alone! Master Ki-Aaron-Mundi misses Star Wars Tales. In the comments, Pabawan (Pablo) makes an interesting point: the audience for the comics is small and not very receptive to experimentation. Pity.
Pirate_lass and the folks at Hug_clones discuss Triple Zero. Spoilerifically.
Gabri-Jade rants on the Jedi Council fanfic awards. Personally I’ve always found them worse than useless, since I’m rarely reading more than one or two fics there at a time. Plus with my fic apathy issues (2 weeks to read Outbound Flight! Two weeks!) reading even five nominees is not going to happen.
Ryan Kaufman and his son Max have major continuty issues.

Java the Hutt?
Albuquerque’s Satellite Coffee shop stands in for “Java the Hutt ” for the film Fanboys. The article claims it’s a fictional location, but I’m pretty sure I recall hearing about a real coffee place at Skywalker Ranch with the name. Could one of you folks who’s been to the Ranch confirm or deny?
Whatever the case, you can buy a bag of “Java the Hutt” coffee from the Motley Brew Coffee Company. (They also have a “Bean Me Up, Scotty!” blend.)
Wherefore art thou, Oscar?
In yet another article about the Oscars, The New York Sun theorizes that both Revenge of the Sith and Sin City were locked out of the visual effects category because of union issues.
The clash over new classics
Harvard professors take flack for including pop culture classics like Star Wars in classes:
It could be that the appearance of “Star Wars” on a syllabus is not as populist a gesture as it initially seems. “I think part of what Harvard is doing is embracing the fact that America’s elites today need to be as conversant in ‘Star Wars’ as they are in Stravinsky,” Kaufman says.
Our Other Master (Whedon) Speaks!
Empire Magazine is so much like us. They appreciate the great entertainment we do; most recently, Serenity.
They recently scored an exclusive interview with our other master: Joss Whedon; creator of Buffy (and Spike), Angel and Firefly.
In short:
1. Serenity didn’t set the box office ablaze. He’ll never rule it out, but it doesn’t look likely we’ll see another film in the series.
2. Wonder Woman is still in progress. He’s unsure whether his new horror film “Goners” will come out, first.
3. The rumored Spike film is still a possibility; if he can get some financing together. (Anyone up for a giant bake sale?)

Queer, maybe. Studies? No.
Faster! More Intense!
Here’s a cute site petitioning for the ice planet of Hoth to host the XXII Winter Olympics Games. That’s an idea after CJ’s own heart – our 2004 Jadecon theme was the GFFA Olympics, and our 2005 con was Hoth Survivor. We’ll bring liquor, filk, Don’t Break the Ice, and maybe a few extra girls in short skirts.
Canadian Hockey: Like Star Wars, in a way
My knowledge of the sport begins and ends with derogatory terms for the Red Wing fans who can’t figure out how to drive in downtown Detroit, but I’m sure somewhere there’s a Star Wars fan who can appreciate this. (Yav? Are you out there?)
