Star Wars Kid cuts a deal
The case filed by Ghyslain Raza, who gained internet fame has the Star Wars Kid, and his parents has been settled with the families of three former schoolmates they were suing for cyber-bullying. The trial was set to begin on Monday.
Will there be girls there?
Adult Swim wants more women viewers. Well, I love Harvey Birdman, The Venture Brothers, The Boondocks, and Robot Chicken, but they lost me with the last crop of subpar shows. Tom Goes to the Mayor? Squidbillies? 12 Ounce Mouse? I’ve read grocery lists with more laughs.
Sticking Futurama in the new 10:30 weekday slot was a great start, though. Chicks love Futurama. At least, I do.
Galactica Wins Peabody
Who’da thunk it? A sci-fi show actually winning a Peabody Award?
The new Battlestar Galactica has won an award for 2006. (Okay. They also chose South Park. But really. That’s a brilliant show.)
Per the press release:
A belated, brilliantly re-imagined revival of a so-so 1970s outer-space saga, the series about imperiled survivors of a besieged planet has revitalized sci-fi television with its parallax considerations of politics, religion, sex, even what it means to be “human.” NBC Universal Television Studio.
Makes you just want to give Baltar a big ol’ squishy hug, doesn’t it?
George Lucas in Pride?
Per Empire Online, Joe Nussbaum, who created the fabulously funny George Lucas in Love has managed to sell a comedy script to Warner Brothers.
It’s always nice to see a nerd come to fruition.
Yet more t-shirts

Fan club president race runs close
As we reported earlier, Lucasfilm is running a recruiting contest for the next Star Wars Fan Club president. Whoever gets the most referrals from people signing or renewing Hyperspace wins. The winner gets to be Fan Club president and an expense-paid trip to San Diego Comic-Con International, among other things.
It looks like it’s between Dustin Roberts and Tom ‘Uscwannabe’ Costabile. According to the leaderboard, Costabile is currently in the lead, having 29 bounties to Robert’s 26.
Costabile’s lead is all the more impressive since he doesn’t have two major fansites pimping him out several times a day. Or maybe Rebelscum and TFN readers are so annoyed with the Roberts news-flood they’re throwing votes to the competition? Hmm…

Two articles on genre fiction from Publisher’s Weeky: Too Geeky for Its Own Good? looks at science fiction and Fantasy Goes Literary is about – duh – the mainstreaming of fantasy. (via Galleycat)
