Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
Per a listing for a Rogue One magazine spotted on Amazon, it seems that we could be seeing a March 28 release date for Rogue One on Blu-Ray.
This is about the same timeframe that as The Force Awakens‘ home release, so I don’t see any reason to be particularly doubtful. TFA also did a staggered release, with the digital copy coming a few days early.
The date also gives us a slight buffer before The Last Jedi promotion begins in earnest at Celebration in mid-April.
As revealed on this week’s Star Wars Show, the Barnes & Noble edition of Aftermath: Empire’s End will come with posters featuring Norra Wexley and Grand Admiral Rae Sloane. Also, more Rogue One behind-the-scenes action with Pablo Hidalgo, and Ando chats with the film’s co-producer, John Swartz.
io9 has our first excerpt from Chuck Wendig’s upcoming Aftermath: Empire’s End, the last book in the trilogy. It features Lando Calrissian and sheds some light on what he’s been up to since Endor.
The book will be out in hardcover and eBook on February 21.
With a tweet from co-director Chris Miller captioned “Han shot first,” we learn that the Han Solo standalone has begun shooting. The slate says ‘Red Cup,’ the film’s shooting title. (Solo… Get it?)
The movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, plus Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson in yet-unknown roles. Posts like these from directors are usually followed by a StarWars.com announcement which may reveal further info (like, perhaps, a new release date?) so we’ll keep any eye out.
Tuesday brings Claudia Gray’s Bloodline in paperback. The book gives us some insight into the state of the galaxy not so long before The Force Awakens and was one of the best-reviewed Star Wars novels in years. (I gave it an A-.) Wel worth reading, if you haven’t already.
On Wednesday the comic shops will have Star Wars #28 and Darth Maul #1, the start of Marvel’s latest mini-series.

StarWars.com now has the details for Beth Revis’ Jyn Erso YA novel Rebel Rising and Greg Rucka’s middle-grade Guardians of the Whills, which will be about Baze Malbus and Chirrut Imwe. Here’s the blurb:
Baze and Chirrut used to be Guardians of the Whills, who looked after the Kyber Temple on Jedha and all those who worshipped there. Then the Empire came and took over the planet. The temple was destroyed and the people scattered. Now Baze and Chirrut do what they can to resist the Empire and protect the people of Jedha, but it never seems to be enough. It could be that the blurb wasn’t proofread or approved yet – the Jyn we see in the first Rogue One flashback on Lah’mu was 8, not 5 – which may be why it vanished. An excerpt (PDF link) remains live.

For those engaged in furious debate over whether the title refers to one Jedi or many Jedi. (Remember: Singular plural!) here’s a bit of a… Something. When asked, a Lucasfilm source told Chris Taylor of Mashable to “Trust your doubt.”
As for the color “debate,” well, I’ll just leave this here.
Her Universe’s new website is up, and it’s just one of the changes coming to the brand following their acquisition by Hot Topic. There are some new products, but new collections are coming “in the summer” – though Ashley Eckstein mentioned new stuff coming for Celebration in April. A cheaper shipping rate, more consistent sizing and even (in some cases) international shipping is coming.
