Oh shit – More fanboys!

With gaming expo E3 closing the ranks, GenCon plans to expand in 2007. They’re staying in Indianapolis (phew) and only adding space to the existing con floor and hotels. The California version, however, will be moving from Anaheim to the Los Angeles Convention Center (location of C4) next year.

Will Jaders have to start driving in on Tuesday to get parking? Will the video gamers be any better at bathing than their RPG counterparts? Will there be more free stuff? Only time will tell…

News of the Day

Okay, I lied. Here are a few interesting Star Wars items on the net today:

The Lucas Effect, a great piece from Popular Mechanics on George Lucas and his effects on moviemaking.

Lucasfilm Consolidates IT for Animation, Movies, Video Games, an article from TechWeb about Lucasfilm’s IT.

And finally, from the starwars.com boards, a survey for Star Wars fans from John Tenuto, a sociology instructor at College of Lake County. I took the survey, but I must admit I found the questions asked rather limiting. I’d like to see him asking more asked about fan attitudes and perceptions of the different aspects of the fandom…

No time for blog, Dr. Jones

As (sort of) mentioned at the bottom of the last post, GenCon/JadeCon, our annual gathering, starts this week – Wednesday for me, Thursday for some, and in the meantime I have enough to do that I’m pretty much ignoring the computer entirely. Posting will resume midweek – I hesitate to say regular posting because it is, after all, JadeCon. You can check out our accounts of 2004 and 2005 for some idea of what to expect.

Be warned: There will be drinking – I won’t guarantee that JadeCon posts will make sense. You can’t say you haven’t been warned.
