Because of course it does. USA Today has the scoop – and a clip:
One of the arcs stars Jedi Master Plo Koon (voiced by James Arnold Taylor), who finds a lost lightsaber while on a mission on a sandstorm-laden planet with a platoon of clone troopers. It’s the beginning of a mystery, and one that will make the Jedi question their role in the Clone Wars and the universe itself, according to [Supervising director Dave] Filoni.
“The Jedi have been fighting a war with an army that was commissioned by one of their own, Jedi Master Syfo-Dias,” he says. “But who was Syfo-Dias, and what happened to him? The dark lord of the Sith has woven an intricate web to ensnare the Jedi, but it is not full-proof and sometimes a small clue, and a bit of chance, can lead to the unraveling of the best-laid plans.”
Filoni also discusses why Ahsoka did what she did in the finale, and his advice for J.J. Abrams. Still no word on where any of the ‘bonus content’ will air, though.
This…this is awesome news for an arc. We got some hints about the Syfo-Dias in Darth Plagueius, so it’s nice to see they’ll *finally* uncover the mystery. Well, maybe. But at least address it!
“full-proof”, USA Today?
Still, that’s a very intriguing clip.
Sifo-Dyas is a great twist for the finish line. I’m really looking forward to this. :-)
OK, this made me a bit more optimistic. I always felt the biggest problem in the prequels was leaving the Sifo-Dyas story arc a mystery. It seems like too big a problem to just leave hanging.
I found it interesting that the clip reuses William’s film score. Perhaps Kevin Kiner is not coming back for the bonus content episodes?
DoubleSith, it’s probably just a temporary score. They used some Williams score in previews shown and Celebration VI, but it was replaced with new music by the time the episode aired.
James, it’s full of proofs!
If that arc isn’t part of the arc with the clone killing a jedi (and I doubt it is) it probably means we get three arcs; the calready ompleted Clovis arc, the order 66 arc, and the Sifo Dayas arc. Which means at least one more than what TFN said we would get. If I am right, then it means the pressure fans put on Disney is working, and getting them to give us more than planned!
We have to keep sending e-mails asking them to finish producing at least most of season 6; maximise our chances to get as many arcs as possible. This video-annoucement might be the indication that the fan’s message got through, so we have to hit the iron while it’s still hot.
You know, I never felt like Sifo-Dyas WAS a mystery.
Coming out of AotC, it seemed very clear to me that the Sith were behind the clone army. Most likely Dooku (or maybe Palpatine) posed as Sifo-Dyas to place the Order – if the Kaminoans did check, then yep, there was a prominent Jedi by that name.
All the digging into the issue since then seems to have just muddied the issue unnecessarily.
I never felt it was exactly a mystery either, I just felt it was shrouded in ambiguity. In the leaked script, it was obvious it was Sidious and then it was a little less obvious in the film with the name alteration Lucas made. That said, it was not clear if it was Sidious pretending to be a Jedi or an actual Jedi. If it was a Jedi, who killed him? Tyranus or Sidious? Those were the kinds of questions I had before the EU played with Syfo.
That said, I think The Clone Wars is the kind of platform where these sorts of ambiguities should be addressed. It is a platform for elaboration and that is seriously one of the things worthy of the series addressing before it is all over.
At this point, that mystery is nothing compared to what happened to Maul… I hope they answer that stuff and put it away for good.
Right now The Clone Wars feels like I went on vacation, forgot to leave food out for the cat, left the oven on, and the back door open. It is a little weird moving forward without that stuff tucked away in a tidy fashion.
