In a one-hour special, Disney’s Phineas and Ferb will be heading to the galaxy far, far away next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
I’ve never seen the show, but I’ve heard of it as one of Disney’s more popular cartoons… And it’s not like there’s a particularly high bar set for these things (thanks, Family Guy.)
The show is already airing a Marvel crossover on August 16.
“Phineas and Ferb” did an entire episode parodying “Star Wars” already, and it was pretty good. I don’t see the point of doing another one just because it would be official. Who is this production really for?
It’s really the same problem I would have with them crossing “Kingdom Hearts” with “Star Wars.” “Birth By Sleep” -is- the Prequel Trilogy and Mark Hamill is the Jedi Keyblade Master. They did it already.
Anything’s better than Family Guy.
I hate to see Star Wars diluted.
I think this only dilutes SW if you allow it to dilute SW for you… This isn’t exactly a franchise that’s ever taken itself particularly seriously.
…But that’s a column I’ll get around to soonish. Hopefully.
This existing doesn’t bother me, but I do find it weird after Disney/LFL shelved Detours because they “reconsidered whether launching an animated comedy prior to the launch of Episode VII makes sense”.
One-off special with an existing brand =/= launching a new show.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not particularly thrilled about this, but… We’re not at all the target audience here.
As soon as I heard about the Marvel one I knew Star Wars wasn’t too far behind xP
