An AICN reader has a theory: That Disney has been making moves towards Lost’s Damon Lindelof and Pixar’s Brad Bird as the writer and director of Episode 7. This all hinges on the mystery film 1952 as the new Blue Harvest. (Hat tip to our old pal Fatboy Roberts.)
Bird has directed The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Lindelof is best known as the co-creator of Lost. He also produced 2009’s Star Trek and worked on the script for the sequel. He has writing credits for Prometheus and Cowboys & Aliens.
Bird is also listed on IMDB as director on 1906, a film in pre-production about the San Francisco earthquakes, but IMDB has never been 100% trustworthy on ‘early’ news of films.
What does 1952 mean to Star Wars? It’s the year Liam Neeson was born. In film history, it’s the year that High Noon and The Greatest Show on Earth and the first full color 3D movie were released. George Lucas was 8 that year – do any of these films ring a bell for Star Wars scholars?
UPDATE: First Showing has a source which claims that 1952 has nothing to do with Star Wars. (H/T to Justin Alicea.)
Bird’s got my vote, but I still want Spielberg
Interesting speculation with the 1953 thing. I thought a bit abot this:
Liam Neesen is not the only Star Wars guy born in that year
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/1950s#1952
In the Wikipedia article there is a film named Carrie: Leia will play a role in the movie or Carrie will have a cameo?
1952 is the year before the regualar Mickey Mouse series ended: Disney wants to come away from making only kid’s series?
1952 they testet Ivy Mike: a possible superweapon in the Movie?
Douglas Adams is born in that year: possible reference to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy? well could be a reference to everything, than, but that one ist interesting.
What do you think?
I doubt that 1952 has anything to do with Star Wars. From wikipedia, that year:
– The United States successfully detonates the first hydrogen bomb.
-King George VI died.
– The Special Forces (United States Army) are created
– Washington D.C. is “buzzed” by several alleged UFOs tracked on multiple radars. Jets scramble on several occasions and the objects take evasive action, only to return after the jets leave the area.
Among other things. Any of these could be used for a movie.
1906 has been in production for YEARS and Bird was working on it before M:I:4 and I’ve read interviews about his take on it.
That’s a legitimate film.
If Brad Bird is directing this film, though, I’ll be happy. But 1952 has been bandied about for a long time, much longer than 4 months, and didn’t Pablo’s post say they were coming in to work on this starting 6/29?
Does Mitt Romney hate Brad Bird? Am I getting my memes confused?
