Rise, Lord Combover

I don’t know about you, but Star Wars isn’t going to make me watch The Apprentice. I already took one for the team this year. Screw Trump.

I’m more of a Martha fan anyway. That woman would make one hell of a Sith, and Trump is the Admiral Daala to her Palpatine.

And since yes, since there is TV that doesn’t involve ‘reality,’ there was quite a big chunk of ROTS reference – an entire conversation, even – on last night’s Gilmore Girls. I’m keeping my eyes out for a transcript, but for now let me just say it involved higher ground. And ranting. Lovely, lovely ranting.

“Long Way Round” DVD finally comes to North America!

Great news!

Patty of the LJ community Ewan_Playground (and if you’re not already a member, why not???) received an email from LWR HQ saying the show would see a North American release before Christmas.

The US will get the seven episode version while Canada will get the extended ten episode one.

It’s not listed yet, but you can probably get the Canadian version at Amazon Canada or at Chapters/Indigo.

Hooray! Thanks Patty!

Long Way Round Keeps Plugging Along

An extended edition DVD of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s round the world motorcycle adventure will be released to viewers in the UK on November 7.

Meanwhile, no version of the show has yet been released in North America. You can go here and register for notification from Amazon in the event it ever is. Your indication of interest apparently will be passed on to the studio.

If you get tired of holding your breath, both sets of DVDs from the UK are “Region 0” meaning they’ll play on some DVD players and almost all computers.

Canadian viewers will get to see LWR starting November 1 on the Outdoor Life Network.

And, finally, the print version of their adventure is topping the travel book charts in the UK.

Thanks to Ewan News for the great coverage.

Geeks love Sci-Fi Fridays… Right?

The second season of the best sci-fi on TV*, Battlestar Galactica premieres in just a matter of hours on the Sci-Fi Channel. There’s also a couple of Stargates (now with Farscape‘s Ben Browder!) beforehand, if you’re into that kind of thing. For those who prefer to spend Friday night away from the TV (or at a Harry Potter release party) the shows will rerun Tuesday night.

* Individual opinions may vary.

Good sci-fi is hard to find

The next season of Battlestar Galactica is coming up next month… The Sci-Fi Channel released a second short preview of the new episodes. For more eye candy, check out the S2 promo pictures.

Extremely focused fans can keep an eye on Unofficial BSG blog and bsg_news for more details, including (links to) spoilers.

And have we mentioned that the Sci-Fi Channel is going to be rerunning Firefly on Fridays? In the proper order? If you haven’t bought or Netflixed the DVDs yet, I (and several other CJers) highly recommend you tune in.
