Wonder Twins Activate!
The WB and UPN to merge, create new network. Veronica Mars and Smallville are expected to survive any resulting shakedown. Hopefully someone can find the courage to finally put Charmed down and give VMars the Sunday slot. I’d totally watch it against Desperate Housewives.
Futurama lives, maybe?
According to voice actor Billy West, or at any rate someone posting as Billy West on billywest.com (scroll to the bottom,) four Futurama DVD movies have been greenlighted. Recording starts this summer.
Everyone loves a costumed freak
The Sci-Fi Channel and Stan Lee are hooking up for Who Wants to be a Superhero? I don’t know how much mileage there is in this concept, but I really, really want them to team up with Project Runway. Somebody has to smite General Zod Santino before I start throwing stuff at my TV.
Doctor Who comes to the states
The Sci-Fi Channel has picked up the new Doctor Who after all. The show will be part of their Friday line-up, and the American DVD launch has been postponed to July.
TV News: Lost, VMars, Aquaman
Lost is back tonight, monster and all. Mr. Eko is the focus of tonight’s episode, but if you’re not quite caught up, tune in early for a clip show.
Lucy Lawless gets around. First Battlestar Galactica, now Veronica Mars. (Sadly, no Mars tonight – it’s back in two weeks.)
Broadway’s Will Toale will be Aquaman. Or you may have seen him as the “Briefs Model” in Uptown Girls. That’s more than enough cred for the WB.
My manwich!
Matt Groening and folks are in talks to bring the Futurama back from the dead. Long overdue, folks – long overdue. If syndication and endless nights of Adult Swim have taught me nothing else, it’s that the already-resurrected Family Guy just doesn’t hold up for multiple viewing, while Futurama just gets better and better. Plus, their Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory riff was actually funny.
Sci-fi fans have issues letting go
The BBC finds that Star Trek, Buffy, The X-Files, and Stargate (isn’t that still on?) are among the ‘most-missed’ series.
Contraband toilet!
We all know that Star Trek featured TV’s first interracial kiss, but did you know it was also the first show to use the word ‘hell’? That and other interesting TV firsts are chronicled at Yes But No But Yes.
Mr. Pibb + Red Vines = Crazy Delicious!
This weekend’s Saturday Night Live was mostly forgettable – even with Jack Black hosting – but the best bit by far featured Andy Samburg and Chris Parnell rapping about Narnia, cupcakes, and Mapquest.
