Last night the Sci-Fi Channel ran a preview for the new season of Battlestar Galactica. Is it October yet?
Meanwhile, if you can handle waiting a little less longer for a fix, the second half of the last season will be out on DVD in September.

The first cover, that is, of Joss Whedon’s post-cancellation series, being called ‘Season 8’ by the fans. Word is the issue will debut at the San Deigo Comic Con this weekend.
“The man who played Anakin Beefstroker was actually better than Hayden Christensen.” – Stephen Colbert, while discussing the (fake) porno Sperm Wars II: Attack of the Bones on his show.
CNBC reported yesterday that Pirates of the Caribbean beat Aquaman’s box office record.
Pirates did smash records, but James Cameron’s Aquaman – and its killer box office – only exist as a plot point on HBO’s Entourage. The cable network did take out an ad in Variety last month touting the fictional milestone, which no doubt prompted the mistake.

Denis Lawson is up for an Emmy for his work in the recent PBS/BBC adaption of Dicken’s Bleak House. The Scottish actor recieved a nomination for Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie.

The WB to will goodbye in September by making us remember when it was good: The network will be airing the pilots of some of it’s best shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which it lost to then-rival UPN,) Angel (which it killed and replaced with Jeff Foxworthy,) Dawson’s Creek (which it let live far too long, much like a teacher-snogging X-Files) and Felicity, a show that was so much a part of my college experience that I can’t badmouth even if it probably deserves it.
Revel in the late-90ness of it all with Entertainment Weekly’s top WB moments.
Finally! The best animated sci-fi adventure show from the creators of The Simpsons will return with 13 new episodes by 2008. The only question is, why did it take so damn long?
A hearty congratulations to ol’ Captain Kirk, himself, William Shatner!
He of The Multiple Pauses is going to be inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame.
While he will probably always be remembered for his Star Trek role, he has had many other successes. But it’s always good to see a geek icon do well!
Buffy spin-off movies are a no-go, according to Joss himself. Oh well. (via Big Dumb Object)

Meanwhile, Bryce Zabel writes about rebooting Trek with J. Michael Straczynski. Never got off the ground, obviously, but it’s an interesting read.
