Resisting the inevitable ‘leaf on the wind’ joke

IMAGE: Vincent :(New York Magazine’s Vulture blog counts down ten beloved characters who didn’t deserve to die. Wash’s Serenity is the only real genre character on the list, but Samuel L. Jackson’s hilarious end in Deep Blue Sea and Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction are also contenders.

With that in mind, what sudden character death (outside of Star Wars) still haunts you? (Seriously, if you post any Legacy of the Force spoilers in this thread, I will cut you. Okay, maybe not. Just delete them. But I’m sure there’s a sidebar poll in this about six months down the line.)

Gate Geek – The Big Finish

Nope.  I’m not talking about the end of SGA Season 5 (although aren’t you dying to find out how it all comes together?), but Michelle points out that the company Big Finish has moved forward with selling their “talking books” for SG1 and SGA.

There is a clip available on the SG1 page to give you an idea of the production value for these things.  I must say, I’m impressed.  They’re less audio book and more radio production, without the large cast.  (I’d link you to it, but their servers seem a bit overwhelmed, today.)

Gate Geek – The Excitement Builds (Indeed)

So which way do we go this week?  Excitement that Atlantis is rocketing towards the end of what has proven to be a rockin’ season?  Or excitement that SG1 is about to rejoin us with all sorts of movie goodness?

SG1 – Rockin’ the Ark

March 11th will soon be here.  Can you believe it?!  Well, MGM certainly can by releasing another teaser video with some wonderfully breath-taking shots in it.   This one’s going to be of the pretty, folks!

Atlantis – Oh, The Tension!

Okay.  Kindred, Part I.  Although rather rudely spoiled by SciFi in their promo (yes, you kinda figured, but did they really have to do it?), this episode finally started rocketing us towards the resolution of every hanging storyline out there.

Joe Mallozzi took the lead on this one and shared what he was thinking and some deleted/alternate scenes.

If you want the answer to one of the questions posed in Part I, check out this week’s teaser video on the official site.

Wondercon starts tomorrow!

There’s plenty going on for Star Wars fans at the San Francisco con. On Friday, look for the Lucas Licensing Portfolio Review and a showing of Star Wars fan films hosted by the fabulous Mary Franklin. Saturday brings a How to Draw Star Wars panel with Bonnie Burton, Matt Busch and Tom Hodges. And Inside Lucasfilm with Steve Sansweet, which will also feature The Clone Wars Executive Director David Filoni and Producer Catherine Winder.

The official blog has more details.

Other highlights include an X-Files 2 panel with David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson Chris Carter, writer-producer Frank Spotnitz, a Sarah Connor Chronicles Q&A with Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau Brian Austin Green and producer James Middleton. Other highlights include a panels with J. Michael Straczynski, previews of Get Smart, Prince Caspian WALL•E and Iron Man.

Gate Geek – SG1 Continues to Reign

In spite of the upcoming episode in which the fans got their way about to air, this week seems to be dominated by the SG1 legacy:

We do have some nice Stargate Atlantis stuff, though:
