Gate Geek – The Season Cometh

Only a couple more weeks until Season 5!  So the newsbits are flying fast and furious.

To start this out with some amusement, the latest Super Fan video is up on the official site.  Big stunts with this one.

Super Fan Contest host, Martin Gero, talks with GateWorld.  In it, we get some slightly spoilery (although not overly so) discussion about the overall storyline, some teasing about Episode 100 and a small discussion about being inadvertently sucked into the middle of a political battle because of his new movie‘s name and content.

Someone who is willing to be spoilery is E! Watch with Kristin who, along with thousands of other fans, has found out the basic gist of what happens in the season opener.

Those screeners are getting a lot of traffic, but producer Joe Mallozzi understands.  He tries to prevent it, but he understands.

Atlantis comes back July 11th.

TV Bits – Heroes and Chuck

Producers are starting to drop tidbits to get us all excited for the upcoming season.  (And I am all for that.)

It looks like Heroes is going to go for the more philosophical bent in the upcoming volume.  And E!’s Watch with Kristin has some dish on which cast members will be regulars and which will be floating.

And Kristin also finds out that our favorite nerd, Chuck, will get to see a bit more catfighting with the guest appearance of tabloid darling Nicole Richie.  (Yeah.  Really.)

We just have to hold out until the end of September!

Finding Sanctuary on SciFi

The best part about shows with names like this is that you can make horribly annoying subject lines for quite a while with them.

At any rate, the first trailer is up for Sanctuary. This was the first attempt to sell a series strictly online and using fan interaction to help shape the story. Sadly, they just couldn’t make the model work financially. But it was enough to get SciFi to notice and pick them up as a series. So it can’t all be bad.

Series star and producer Amanda Tapping (formerly of the Stargate franchise) catches everyone up on what’s been happening with the show. A nice interview for those who watched it and those who are thinking about it.

Gate Geek – Dreading over the Dreads?

Yes. It’s been a while. Y’see, there was this trip out to Pegasus. The Apollo developed engine trouble. It was this whole thing….

Okay. Not really. But let’s catch up, shall we?

Not to be outdone by a show that’s still on the air, the SG1 news:

The hell? EU reference on Grey’s Anatomy

The season finale of a hit network medical drama/soap opera is probably the last place one would expect an Expanded Universe reference, but last night on Grey’s Anatomy, it seems Dr. Bailey (the only character on the show I have never wanted to smack upside the head) came through with this:

“Han Solo is not a loser. Han Solo got encased in carbonite and that was a big mess, but that’s not what he’s remembered for. He’s remembered as the guy who made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs, and who braved the sub-zero temperatures of the ice planet Hoth in order to save someone he cared about from the big ugly wampa. He’s remembered as the guy who swooped down at the last minute, blasted Darth Vader out of the sky, so that Luke could use the Force and, and destroy the damn Death Star. Okay? Princess Leia saved him from the carbonite, and they fell in love, and they saved the universe, and had twin Jedi babies that went on to save the universe again.”

UPDATE: That’s the real quote. Grey’s Anatomy screenwriters, we salute you. (And big thanks to Horsey as well!)

The finale (‘Freedom’) reruns Friday night on ABC, or you can watch it online. The scene starts at 27:25 in the first part of the two-parter.

UPDATE 2: You want video? io9 has video.
