The cover story of the latest EW features Watchman, the adaptation of the classic graphic novel whose trailer debuted yesterday. Also in the issue? ComicCon giveaways for JJ Abrams’ Star Trek, four posters that unite to form a one-sheet – and feature our first official look at some of the cast. Also in their SDCC slideshow: Peeks at Dollhouse, Terminator Salvation, an Ender’s Game comic, and Fringe.
GateGeek – All we are saying…is give Bob a chance
Robert Picardo is trying to entice Star Trek fans to try out Stargate Atlantis. Tonight marks his migration into the show after Amanda Tapping‘s departure from the franchise to pursue Sanctuary. He’s just asking for three shows to win you over.
It’s not like Amanda is straying very far from Stargate. She is in the upcoming SG1 movie Continuum. GateWorld got to attend the cast and crew screening and put together a video interview with the stars.
Okay, Trekkers. Tonight at 10pm, Eastern on SciFi. That’s what you owe Bob Picardo!

Don’t you want to live in Eureka’s neighborhood?
Eureka is on its way back for a third season; kicking it off with their own version of Mr. Roger’s “Won’t you be my neighbor?”
No, Colin Ferguson can’t sing. But it’s still kinda funny; as is the show. Check it out!
GateGeek – It’s Premiere Week!
It’s the time that makes the Stargate fan’s heart go pitter-pat. (Hear it?) Yes, Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis premieres in the US this Friday!
(Sure. Some of you couldn’t wait and watched the leak. But some of us have decided to wait and enjoy the suspense.)
This, of course, brings us all sorts of promotional goodies to enjoy:
- Season 4 gets released on DVD today. (The first-ever Stargate bloopers!)
- We get interviews with Robert Picardo
- Interviews with show-runner Joe Mallozzi
- And the obligatory (yet incredibly touched up) cast photos
Other Stargate stuff of note:
- GateWorld has launched an image gallery with much nicer pictures
- And there are lovely tributes to Don S. Davis in the LA Times and E! (who appears to have a Stargate fan now working there)
Is Hamill’s Joker the best ever?
With everyone gearing up for The Dark Knight, the MTV Movie Blog takes a look back at the Joker of Batman: The Animated Series, perhaps best known to Star Wars fans as Mark Hamill’s signature voice role.
Eleven awesome geek cars
TFN points us towards Slippery Brick’s list of 11 awesome geek-themed art cars. There are several Star Wars vehicles featured, some of which are familiar (Shawn Crosby’s H-Wing Carfighter) and some which aren’t, like the Jawa Sandcrawler above.
Eye Candy: ROTJ and BSG Burger King glasses
Internet rockstar Derek Powazek photographs some old-school collectibles. (Is 1983 actually old enough to be considered ‘vintage’ yet?) He also links the original commercial.
Geek sweets: Cake and cookie break!
Battlestar Galactica cake, many Lukes and a single Stormtrooper from Zoë Lukas of Whipped Bakeshop, whose Vader and Yoda models we’ve featured before.
Support a Canadian charity on Canada Day
A Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian members and friends. There’s something you can do in celebration.
We’ve told you previously about Michael Shank‘s on-going auction to support the Canadian National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Looking over the list today, there are some cool items from Firefly (Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk) and SuperNatural (Jared Padelecki, Jenson Ackles) that aren’t getting much action. This might be your chance to pick up some nice items from those fandoms and still support a good cause.
