Today in The Clone Wars
StarWars.com posts a summary, with commentary from Dave Filoni, of the second episode airing Friday night, ‘Rising Malevolence‘
- The Hollywood Reporter’s blandly positive review.
- Animation World Network details the ‘exclusive content’ that will be appearing during the show’s commercial breaks.
- Pre-orders for the movie’s Blu-Ray edition aren’t exactly burning up the charts.
Details from Dark Horse on Dark Times, digests
TFN has a report from the Dark Horse panel at Baltimore Comic-Con. Dark Times will be returning in 2009, I’m guessing in the spring, when The Clone Wars miniseries runs its course. (No word on Rebellion.) TCW digest will go on, and they also gave out a bit on the new digest, Star Wars Adventures:
It will feature the same animated art style of the current digest sized books, and will focus on the Classic Trilogy characters, including Han and Chewie. Look for a story from Jeremy Barlow in the first issue.
And yes, Crimson Empire III is still a no-go.
Newsblast: The latest in The Clone Wars
The first review is in, and Variety seems impressed – with reservations. (Exactly how ham-handed are we going to let the ‘clonetroopers are people, too’ thing get, Lucasfilm?)
- Press release: Director David Bullock and writer Steve Melching talk up ‘Ambush,’ the first episode. (Also on StarWars.com.)
- Interviews: Newsarama talks to Tom Kane, who voices cartoon Yoda. (via)
- Marketing: Limited commercials with premiere; Clonetroopers helping to sell the show.
- Event: TFN has a report from the mall tour in New York.
- Overseas: UK fans can catch the show October 25th on Sky Movies.
The Clone Wars movie coming to DVD, Blu-Ray

Lately in The Clone Wars: House parties, interviews
A few days back Rebelscum had a Clone Wars house party kit – now we have the details from the official site. One kid, Chicago’s Calvin Rodgers (above) is getting the red-carpet treatment.
The House Party folks may only have three days left before they see the first two episodes, but the rest of us are still waiting until October 3… Still, reviews and such are showing up:
- Genre Online reviews the premiere episodes and interviews Dave Filioni.
- Filioni also does the rounds with Sci-Fi Wire.
- Palgn previews the Lightsaber Duels game.
- And Sam Witwer, of all people, addresses why The Clone Wars movie fell short for many of us.
We’re sure to see more as we approach the air date, and/or the TFU buzz fades.
