It’s Friday and The Clone Wars is back

Your only visual Star Wars fix returns with ‘Cloak of Darkness’ tonight, complete with…. Surprise James Marsters?!? (The hell?) In less shocking news, Ashley Eckstein and a new webcomic, ‘Transfer.’ UPDATE Annnnd Olivia d’Abo.

As for the fannish side of things, the ForceCast has Kevin Rubio and a ‘Bombad Jedi’ roundtable. Plus, the Galactic Senate message boards are holding a Clone Wars fanfic contest, with actual prizes and everything. (via)

The Complete Encyclopedia is nigh; March comics

The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia 2.0StarWars.com features The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, including several sample pages that the more keen-eyed among us might actually even be able to read. The book, written by Steve Sansweet, Pablo Hidalgo and Dan Wallace, Bob Vitas, Chris Cassidy, Mary Franklin and Josh Kushins, will be in stores next week. (Santa Maul would no doubt encourage you to consider it for your holiday lists.)

Also on the official site tonight are the March 2009 comics, including upcoming issues of Legacy and Knights of the Old Republic, along with a new Clone Wars digest, The Wind Raiders of Taloraan.

Thankful for Vader and other scifi staples

Dinner with the inlaws and other Thanksgiving horrors

I’m a total grinch about the holiday season, but John Scalzi isn’t. He’s included Darth Vader in his SciFi Thanksgiving:

I’m thankful for Darth Vader. In the last 30-some years, has there been a better villain in all of film — not just science fiction film, but film in general? I tell you, there is not (Hannibal Lecter comes close, but dude. Vader could use his Force powers to feed him his own liver with a nice Chianti). Vader is so badass that he survived George Lucas turning him into a whiny loser in the prequel trilogy. Think about that.

Heartwarming no? Hey, at least we’re not in space. UPDATE: Underwired puts The Clone Wars on their list.

But there’s something out there to cure even me: puppies. (LFL has a shiba connection?) Though no word if the puppycam will be up and running today.

The Clone Wars: ‘Bombad Jedi’ aftermath

StarWars.com has the obligatory updated episode guide and a video commentary. Also, a very pretty screenshot of that slug-thing, seen above.

It’s Friday, must be The Clone Wars

Padme gets a B-team rescue in 'Bombad Jedi'

Prepare yourselves, Clone Wars fans: ‘Bombad Jedi’ airs tonight. But there is hope – it’s scripted by Kevin Rubio of Troops and Tag and Bink fame.

The Clone Wars: ‘Duel of the Droids’ postmortem

Reaction to ‘Duel of the Droids’ was a bit less frazzled than its predecessor, though not everyone is drinking the Kool-Aid. (I, for one, have ceased even trying.) Still, there’s plenty to bask in for fans of the series, including the obligatory video commentary. (Screencap above is from .)

The real question? Is all the goodwill that Clone has built up going to be blown with this Friday’s Jar-Jar episode? Yousa can tell meesa on Saturday.

And finally, in more general TCW ware, the ForceCast sits down with Skywalker Sound’s David Acord (Rotta the Huttlet) and Matthew Wood (General Grievous.)
