Hayden Christenson wins Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor. Somewhere, someplace, someone is wanking over this.
Java the Hutt?
Albuquerque’s Satellite Coffee shop stands in for “Java the Hutt ” for the film Fanboys. The article claims it’s a fictional location, but I’m pretty sure I recall hearing about a real coffee place at Skywalker Ranch with the name. Could one of you folks who’s been to the Ranch confirm or deny?
Whatever the case, you can buy a bag of “Java the Hutt” coffee from the Motley Brew Coffee Company. (They also have a “Bean Me Up, Scotty!” blend.)
The clash over new classics
Harvard professors take flack for including pop culture classics like Star Wars in classes:
It could be that the appearance of “Star Wars” on a syllabus is not as populist a gesture as it initially seems. “I think part of what Harvard is doing is embracing the fact that America’s elites today need to be as conversant in ‘Star Wars’ as they are in Stravinsky,” Kaufman says.
Queer, maybe. Studies? No.
Faster! More Intense!
Here’s a cute site petitioning for the ice planet of Hoth to host the XXII Winter Olympics Games. That’s an idea after CJ’s own heart – our 2004 Jadecon theme was the GFFA Olympics, and our 2005 con was Hoth Survivor. We’ll bring liquor, filk, Don’t Break the Ice, and maybe a few extra girls in short skirts.
Canadian Hockey: Like Star Wars, in a way
My knowledge of the sport begins and ends with derogatory terms for the Red Wing fans who can’t figure out how to drive in downtown Detroit, but I’m sure somewhere there’s a Star Wars fan who can appreciate this. (Yav? Are you out there?)
Bond film shooting at Lake Como
Casino Royale, the latest James Bond movie, will film scenes at Villa del Balbianello in May. The Villa served as one of the more recognizable locations in Attack of the Clones.

Do games do sci-fi best?
Clive Thompson thinks science fiction comes across better in games than film, using Star Wars as his example. As a SW fan who has never really played a Star Wars game – or most other sci-fi themed games – I’m not really qualified to agree or disagree. Thoughts? (via SF Signal)
