Poll: What would Joss Whedon do?
io9 asks Which sci-fi franchise would you like to see Joss Whedon take over? (Warning: Terrifying photo manip.) Tough choices all, but it looks like Star Wars is winning so far. (Though if NBC had really wanted to save Bionic Woman…)
It’s probably just a pipe dream, but I do hope that LFL would nab him for an episode or so of the live-action show.
A constant drizzle of pollage
- Sci-Fi Wire readers picked Star Wars: A New Hope as the top science fiction movie of all time. It won by 7.8%, with Blade Runner coming in second with 7.5%. No doubt that percentage would have been bigger if any of us fansites had heard of it beforehand…
- Our latest sidebar poll is about Legacy of the Force: Revelation, and so far 32% of you have no plans to read it. Thankfully I have a whole week to figure out how I’m going to make a chart out of that one.
- Those of you that have read it (and have Livejournal accounts) can surf over to the Expanded Universe community and take (Warning: Spoilers!) a slightly more detailed survey.

Kenner + Hasbro = Art?
Photographers Andrea Robbins and Max Becher have a gallery show at the University of Maryland Baltimore County of photographs including their “Figures” series, which pairs a Kenner SW figure with a corresponding Hasbro figure. A Washington Post reviewer thinks that “recent figures boast six-packs, bulging biceps and narrower waists. Both their femininity and masculinity have ballooned.” I’m not sure that we can blame the 90’s for this; after all, the 70’s brought us the Brothers Hildebrandt.
So are action figures modern art? Decide for yourself at the artists’ site ; scroll down to the Figures link on the left.
