Seth Green has been back at the Ranch to talk follow-up with the powers that be. Yes, please! They’re also aiming to get Kiefer Sutherland, presumably for a 24 parody.
Family Guy to tackle Star Wars again?
Last night’s Blue Harvest did so well in the ratings that a Fox spokesman said that an ESB takeoff “seems likely,” James Hibberd reports. Oh joy. (Thanks, Stooge!)
Fair warning
Family Guy: Blue Harvest airs aired tonight. It’s set for 9:00pm here, but check your local FOX affiliate to be sure.
UPDATE: I remain unimpressed, but TV Squad seemed to like it. Feel free to post your own thoughts in the comments – Eliz and I have already started.
The Catchup: And the kitchen sink
Trivia masters rejoice: Jeopardy! added a Star Wars category today. It’s already aired here (curses!) so I have to ask: just how obsessed does one have to be to make the $1000 question laughable?
In the News
- Add David Cronenberg to the list of directors who could have made Return of the Jedi. (via)
- TFN reports that Christine Hewett, who played one of the Tonnika sisters in ANH, has past away.
- Jake Lloyd as Anakin Skywalker tops New York Magazine’s list of ten annoying child actors they’d love to send to Kid Nation. I must object – one film, no matter how disapointing, simply isn’t enough to justify putting Lloyd above any prepubescent cast member of Full House. That show terrorized American airwaves for eight years, not counting syndication.
- AFI is sponsering 11 screenings in Hollywood to celebrate its 40th anniversary, including George Lucas presenting A New Hope. Alas, tickets “sold out faster than the Falcon made the Kessel Run,” as Stooge pointed out on Wednesday.
- IGN’s featured Dead Ewok (colloquially known to fandom as Corpsey) as their Obscure Character of the Day for (again) Wednesday.
- The Jedi Assembly celebrates fifth anniversary.
On the TOS
- The runup to Family Guy: Blue Harvest continues with an interview with writer/producer Alec Sulkin and giclée prints on Star Wars Shop.
- Pete Vilmur takes a look at the ‘pointy W’ logo.
- Hyperspace: Bantha Tracks covers Dragon*Con, while the Source Archive explored the insignia of Rogue Squadron and The New Republic as well as two more NewsNet articles: Ralltiir Uprising Quelled and Imperial Senate Suspended.
Lucas talks TV shows
In part two (part one linked here) of his interview with Tv Guide, George Lucas talks about Clone Wars and the live-action series. Also: He likes Rome! (via TOSblog)
Preview Family Guy: Blue Harvest
IGN has four clips from this Sunday’s ‘event.’ However, I’m afraid it’s streaming video and you have to sit through a horrific Old Spice commercial. It froze halfway though on me and I quit, since the funniest thing I saw was a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker. Maybe you’ll have better luck.
Interviews on the mind
Tina Fey, Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy: Blue Harvest director Dominic Polcino all talk Star Wars.
The Saturday catchup
All the stuff that got spaced
- Allies in The Clone Wars: TV show is a global production.
- Family Guy: Blue Harvest concept art
- A Sithly go-round for the classic circus poster.
- Know A Legion: Bloodfin Garrison
- Bonnie urges R2 Builders to join the space race.
- Are Artoo and Threepio robo-wimps?

Family Guy, Episode VI.I: A New Dope
So the upcoming Family Guy episode ‘Blue Harvest’ has a poster. It’s pretty cute, but I’m still not sure if Family Guy can pull off the whole shebang… Even the best FG episodes seem like fast-forward Chinese food to me – funny at first, but a minute later I realize just how unsatisfying it really is. Can the addition of Star Wars sustain a whole hour of the show? Even with Stewie in a Vader costume?
I suppose I should just be grateful it’s not American Dad.
Catching up with Labor Day weekend
George Lucas is becoming ‘increasingly involved’ with the Clone Wars animated series. Good? Bad? Gungan? Only time will tell! In other CW news, Disney really wants the broadcast rights.
