Dave Filoni will debut the first two episodes of Star Wars Rebels season 3 at Celebration Europe, StarWars.com announced today.
Video: ‘Chewbacca Mom’ is everywhere, including The Star Wars Show
Now officially the ‘Chewbacca Mom,’ Candace Payne has appeared on Good Morning America, The Late Late Show with James Corden, got props from Mark Zuckerberg and now… The Star Wars Show.
Andi and Peter also reveal the key art from Celebration Europe, and they’re also asking for questions for Dennis Muren next week.
And it even starts off with a pair of very special guest appearances…
Dave Filoni’s Rebels S3 teases
Rebels head honcho Dave Filoni posted two teases for the upcoming third season for May the 4th. The first is a mystery, though “You can see it, if you are willing…” The second, Rex in more traditional clone trooper helmet. I’ve seen a lot of guesses for the first, but I’ll leave it to you.
Video: Unboxing Star Wars: Rebels finale ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’, Character Encyclopedia
We’ve got a new episode of Unboxing Star Wars! Yowie and I hit the road for the Star Wars Rebels finale screening at Walt Disney Studios and we review ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’. I also check out Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Updated and Expanded by Pablo Hidalgo and Simon Beecroft, from DK. Plus I give a quick review of the first issue of the Poe Dameron comic, while Baby Jawa plays with a new R2-D2 toy and we check out some of the new Star Wars stuff we’ve picked up. And at the end, some Baby Jawa fun time!
Quick reviews
→ Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Updated and Expanded – Great for everone! Have fun learning tidbits about more than 200 characters and creatures from all the Star Wars films! (and watch for my interview with author Pablo Hidalgo on starwars.com early next week)
→ ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’ – Big thumbs up! When Rebels has a season finale, they pull out all the stops and unload a whole boatload of awesome. (Also, if you haven’t seen it already, I have the entire Q&A from the screening available to watch.)
→ Poe Dameron #1 – A promising start! I think I’m more interested in who Lor San Tekka is than about Poe on his tail but we’ll see where it goes. Plus BB-8!

Rumor: Rebels to end in season 3?
Jordan Maison at Cinelinx says he’s heard that the next season of Star Wars Rebels will be the show’s last., and that it will be succeeded by a new cartoon. This does make a certain amount of sense, and cartoons do tend to have short lifespans.
There have been similar rumors in the past, saying the next cartoon may be set in the sequel era. Personally I find that unlikely until (at least) after Episode VIII, but it’s certainly not impossible.
This is just me speculating, but there’s also the possibility of a new series that takes some of the Rebels characters forward in a sort of rebranding, thus a ‘new’ show. Maybe Rebels becomes Rebellion?
In any case, stay tuned. We already know (officially) that Rogue One is going to come into play, and that certainly could play a role in the series endgame. I also expect, if this turns out to be true, we’ll heard sooner rather than later.
For the record, here’s what Pablo has to say. (He also apparently flat-out called it BS at one point.)
Post-‘Twilight of the Apprentice:’ Rebels Recon and other follow-up
The usual suspects discuss the season-ending ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’ in a super-sized Rebels Recon.
There’s more questions answered with Dave Filoni over at io9, IGN and /Film. Plus, don’t miss the Q&A that James taped!
Her Universe has a new Ahsoka tee, featuring art by Dave Filoni.
io9 also learned that S3 will feature a lot more Sabine.
Rebels S2 Finale: Q&A with Dave Filoni, Ashley Eckstein, and more
Now that you’ve seen ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’, the final episode of season two of Star Wars Rebels, dive into a question and answers session with the cast and crew. Held after the finale screening at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank on Monday, March 28, the Q&A features executive producer & supervising director Dave Filoni, producer Simon Kinberg, and voice actors Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Taylor Gray (Ezra Bridger). Moderated by Amy Ratcliffe, the cast and crew discuss the hour-long final episode and how it came to be. Plus references to Donkey Kong, Gandalf, and more! Yes, it contains spoilers, so be sure you’ve seen the season finale before viewing!
There’s also a few audience questions, including one about the Grand Inquisitor’s role as a Temple Guard: he was one of the guards in The Clone Wars that arrested Ahsoka and later escorted Barriss Offee into the courtroom. And of course, someone had to ask about bringing Thrawn into the show.
Rebels S2 ends tonight with ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’
Rebels wraps up their second season tonight – and deals with some old Clone Wars business – with tonight’s one-hour ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’. IGN has an interview with Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg and Ashley Eckstein where they address the return (again) of Darth Maul, Darth Vader and Ahsoka. Eckstein also chats on StarWars.com.
Fans who don’t want to be spoiled on Twitter should probably mute the hashtag #StarWarsRebels.
Rebels begins at 9:00 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on Disney XD. And yes, there will be a season three, probably beginning in the fall.
Unboxing Star Wars: Tales from a GFFA: Aliens Vol 1 & Rebels: ‘The Forgotten Droid’ & ‘The Mystery of Chopper Base’
We’ve got a new episode of Unboxing Star Wars! Yowie, Baby Jawa and I review the Star Wars Rebels episodes ‘The Forgotten Droid’ and ‘The Mystery of Chopper Base’ and then I give my take on: The Force Awakens: Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Aliens Volume I by Landry Q. Walker, from Disney-Lucasfilm Press. Meanwhile, Baby Jawa does baby things and we also look at some R2-D2 socks, a Millennium Falcon pocket watch from Japan, and the really nifty Vote Leia posters promoting the upcoming Claudia Gray novel, Bloodline.
Quick reviews
→ The Force Awakens: Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Aliens Volume I (release date: April 5, 2016) – Thumbs up! Six short stories about some minor TFA characters give us a variety of genres, all from one author, and all very enjoyable! Fun stuff!
→ ‘The Forgotten Droid’ – Loved it! Chopper has his own adventure and does the impossible: makes a friend. Great work by Stephen Stanton as AP-5!
→ ‘The Mystery of Chopper Base’ – Decent. We get some bug hunting action with the spiders, and some tension as the Ghost crew prepares to bid farewell to Kanan and Ezra.
