New licensee to make costumes and armor
Museum Replicas’ Windlass Studios will make replica clothing and armor for Star Wars fans. They’ll have booths at the International Costume Show Las Vegas, San Diego Comic-Con and Dragon*Con. I’ll be interested to see how this is received by the costuming community…
More on the wildly popular Rejected Star Wars
Jason Geyer posted a followup to his Rejected Star Wars entry, which has now spread all over the fannish blogsphere:
A few things I did want to clarify about the “Rejected” Star Wars concepts: “Rejected!” is the name of my ongoing series of unmade stuff. But not all of these were rejected by Lucasfilm. We don’t know how many of these were actually seen by Lucasfilm- they were presented to Pepsi first and then those concepts they liked were sent on to Lucas Licensing. So possibly a very small sample was shown to Lucasfilm.
ILM dominates VES with giant robots, tentacles
Industrial Light & Magic was the big winner at the Visual Effects Society awards Sunday. They received six awards: Four for Transformers and two for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
Transformers got Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Motion Picture, Best Single Visual Effect of the Year (for the Desert Highway Sequence,) Outstanding Models or Miniatures in a Motion Picture, and Outstanding Compositing in a Motion Picture. At World’s End took Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Motion Picture (for Davy Jones) and Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Motion Picture (for the Maelstrom.)
Other genre winners included Battlestar Galactica – Razor (Outstanding Visual Effects in a Broadcast Miniseries, Movie or Special) and Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix (Outstanding Special Effects in a Motion Picture.)
Rejected Star Wars product proposals
Action Figure Insider founder Jason Geyer pens a sad tale of (mostly) rejected Star Wars merchandise concepts.
So, they’ll make window blinds, but not a Han in Carbonite minifridge or a Jabba beanbag? For shame, LFL. For shame.
