‘The Cure Of Keon’ asks The Onion’s A.V. Club: How geeky is too geeky? What is the drawing line between geek and Comic Book Guy? Their answer is quite reasonable, but this part cannot be repeated enough:
“The Sarlacc Pit? Duh! Star Wars? A little movie called Return Of The Jedi? Maybe you saw it? Hell-ooo!” is too geeky for any crowd, and by any standard.
Yes. Yes it is.
Talk about fandom and real life colliding.. The Shire is a planned community in Oregon based on Lord of the Rings. Pretty, and I guess it’s better than living in a community ‘in the spirit of’ Thomas Kinkade, but dude.
The Dark Chocolate M&Ms, originally launched with Star Wars branding for Revenge of the Sith, have apparently been back full-time for a month or so now. Never really got the fuss here – I love dark chocolate but these taste almost exactly like regular M&Ms. Still, can’t complain about more M&M varities.
Friends of Lulu is a non-profit organization that encourages female participation in comics. They’re looking for entries for a comic anthology called “The Girls’ Guide to Guys’ Stuff.” Given how very boycentric this fandom can be, a ‘Star Wars’ centric tale or two might be welcome. Hell, look a few posts down for an idea or three…
Be prepared for the inevitable robot uprising with these nifty rayguns.
Disneyland is auditioning for Sith Lords, Stormtroopers and a Jedi Master.
Well, of course there are pirate reenactors… (Thanks James!)
Do redheads have more sex? Maybe that’s why there are so many of them in the GFFA…
Pablo does some impromtu Wikipedia research and comes up with some interesting facts: A He-Man villian has a longer entry than King Constantine I of Greece.
I did some word count checking of my own, and found that the entry for Emperor Palpatine outwords that of Julius Caesar by more than 10,000 words. Meanwhile, Palpatine’s Wookieepedia entry is almost three times the size as the one on Wikipedia.
Freaky.
