- And finally, take a short Clone Wars-free break with an interview with director Katsutoshi Sasaki about Soulcalibur IV and how Vader, Yoda, and the secret apprentice came to join the madness.
KOTOR MMO confirmed?
Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello confirmed it to reporters at E3 this week, according to Portfolio’s Tech Observer blog:
“We’ve got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development,” said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. “And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about — in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it.”
Does Riccitiello mean the oft rumored Knights of the Old Republic Online? “Yes,” he said.
But LucasArts told TFN “nope”. Covering for an official annoucement at Celebration Japan or SDCC? Or is is really all wishful thinking yet again?
In the news: Auctions, exhibit crowds, TFU
The TIE fighter model in the Profiles in History auction is expected to fetch up to £100,000, the highest-priced (or, well, estimated) item in the collection. That’s about about $200,000 American. Gotta love the exchange rate… The Crusade Grail is only expected to go for about £12,500, or $25,000.
- Exhibits: The St. Paul run of ‘Where Science Meets Imagination’ draws in 100,000 visitors within 32 days.
- Gaming: The Guardian’s Greg Howson interviews The Force Unleashed project lead Haden Blackman. In other TFU news, an IGN preview.
- Science: Laser beam technology… For real.
- People: Warwick Davis in the San Francisco Chronicle’s Makeup Actor Hall of Fame.

LFL trademarks ‘The Old Republic’ and others
Okay KOTOR 3 junkies, here’s your tip for the day: ‘Interactive entertainment and software,’ ‘namely computer game software’ and ‘entertainment services provided online.’ What could it be? Whatever is it, LFL trademarked the names Star Wars The Old Republic, Star Wars Sagas‘ and ‘Star Wars Legends‘ a week or so ago, all filed with similar wording.
If the links above don’t work, they’ll turn up if you search the United States Patent and Trademark Office trademark database. (via EUC and Starwars Universe.)
EW’s The Force Unleashed trailer
It contains all the lightsaber-wracking we’ve come to expect, but is
actually fairly plotty.
And while I’m posting gaming news, something something Battlefront III?
