The Trek Angst Continues

You gotta feel for JJ Abrams. The next Star Trek film is the most anticipated, yet angst-ridden, film since the Star Wars prequels. (Maybe this is why he was talking with George?)

The latest batch of whining and gossiping includes:
– Roddenberry’s son expressing his complete and utter doubt that a prequel will work
Jennifer Garner as the next Vulcan sex symbol? (Look out, Jolene Blalock!)
Russell Crowe as the main bad-guy?

Zachary Quinto has no qualms. He wanted the Spock gig.

Movie News: LOTR, Indy, Transformers

This post needs something pretty to look at. NO ELVES!Just in time for Christmas… The complete soundtrack for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King will be released on November 6. Yup, all three hours and 50 minutes of score. Also, this is the first I’ve heard of a soundtrack book: The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films. And here I though it was Lucasfilm that left no revenue possibility unturned.

Cate Blanchett talks Indy

Entertainment Weekly catches up with Cate Blanchett at the Toronto Film Festival. The interview is rightly focused on Elizabeth: The Golden Age, which is debuting at the festival, but she also briefly speaks about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:

It’s phenomenal to be working with Harrison Ford and Spielberg and Karen Allen, all of whom were in one of the most amazing experiences of my childhood, watching that film. And then I’m stepping into the frame. It’s a real Zelig moment for me. It was really quite moving when Karen filmed her first entry into the film the other day. You know, Spielberg said, ”I feel so young!” [Laughs] It was fantastic.
