MIT gets a sneak peek at Jumper
According to AICN, MIT LSC will be holding a free sneak preview of Jumper on Wednesday January 16th. Following the screening, a discussion panel about the film and the the physics of teleportation with star Hayden Christensen, director Doug Liman and physics professors Max Tegmark and Edward Farhi.
Crystal Skull being prepped for Blu-Ray?
Blu-Ray.com visited the THX booth at CES 2008 and rooted out this intriguing salvo in the all-but-settled format wars:
As we all know, Paramount’s deal does not cover Steven Spielberg films, and so Indy 4 is being prepped for Blu-ray Disc for release sometime late this year. Apparently, Paramount is reluctant to pony up the additional cost for the disc to be certified, so it may take George Lucas to personally step in and make it happen.
Young Indy DVD set: Volume 3 – releases April 29.
According to DVDActive, the third and final volume of The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones will be released on DVD on April 29, 2008 (follow the link for box art). Subtitled “The Years of Change”, it will cover young Indy from after World War I through his days among the entertainers in America in 1920. This set will contain Harrison Ford’s contribution to The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, telling the tale of “The Mystery of the Blues” while snowbound in 1950 Wyoming.
Movie news: Strike, Deathly Hallows
EW’s Popwatch isn’t so much worried about the WGA and awards shows as how the strike may affect Comic-Con. On the plus side, maybe it’ll free up some hotel rooms.
Lots of familiar names up for VES awards
ILM leads the Visual Effects Society awards with six noms for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Transformers, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, SGA, and 300 also got nods.
Movie News: WGA takes down the Globes
Golden Globes ceremony canceled due to writer’s strike. Heh. Hitting ’em where it hurts! On the plus side, the WGA has struck a deal with WGA and United Artists. The Weinsteins, Lionsgate, and Lucasfilm may be next, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily.

Rumor mill: Hayden to star in Neuromancer?
JoBlo is reporting that Hayden Christensen has been cast as the lead in the film adaption of William Gibson’s Neuromancer. Could be a smart move for him (contingent on the success of Jumper) assuming they don’t pull a Dark is Rising with the script. And that it’s all not just wishful thinking, of course.
Indiana Jones and the comic cover false alarm
SW Artist Steve Anderson provided the staff of TheForce.net with a link to this piece, which, while cool, isn’t the cover of the comic adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, according to Jeremy Barlow at Dark Horse – instead, expect to see a new piece from Hugh Fleming (who did the awesome cover art for Shadows of the Empire comics, among other SW pieces.)
