Well, I know my store was sold out – if you didn’t nab one on Wednesday, don’t worry – Dark Horse is going back for a second printing.
Out this week
Today, the Boba Fett: Man With A Mission trade.
And… It’s not Star Wars, but Buffy #1, the ‘season 8’ comic, is a pretty big deal. It’s even shipping on time! But has it really been ten years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer started? I got into the show late but it doesn’t seem that long…
Did you hear about Captain America?
If not, I’m sorry, but you are living under a rock. The news was everywhere, including the front page of The New York Times website. The Beat has a nice press roundup.
JK Rowling sues eBay
The Harry Potter author has taken legal action against the auction site because of users selling pirated or forged books and merchandise.
“They’re a bit like the A-Team.”
Get in Buffy comic
Dark Horse is holding a writing contest to celebrate the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic. Impress Joss Whedon himself with a mere 205 words on how Buffy changed your life, and you get to appear in the comic itself.
The making of a book cover
Pyr editor Lou Anders has an interesting post on the process of designing a dust jacket.
Ens, Chitwood launch comic company
Paul Ens (Lucas Online) and Scott Chitwood (TheForce.net, Coming Soon) are starting Red 5 Comics, which will publish original comics from several familiar names.
I have a bad feeling about this…
Joel Schumacher wants to make a Sandman movie. There are so many scary-fan places I could take this troubling prospect, but since we’re at the time of night when I have no tact I’ll just say… No.
ETA: Neil Gaiman comments. …Michael Jackson? Okay!
And Harry Marks the Spot
Harry Potter author JK Rowling committed an act of vandalism as she completed the final book in the series. She cemented the occasion by writing on an antique-style statue in a hotel in Edinburgh.
So. If you’re this hotel, do you replace the statue? Or leave it?
In related news, JK Rowling has decided there will be no e-book version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
And (are we at all surprised here?) pre-orders have set an all-time record.
