Following the the footsteps of Dark Horse’s hugely successful Buffy: Season Eight comics, IDW Publishing (Yes, different publishers… Funny, huh?) is taking on Angel Season Six. But can they duplicate Dark Horse’s success without Whedon? AICN has a preview – judge for yourself.
Video du Jour: Earnin’ wizard street cred!
Sorry TFUers; the funny always wins. Today’s selection is Harry Potter in the Hood. Are you down with H. Piddy? Don’t miss the lyrics. I’m so amused I don’t even mind going to MySpace for ’em! (via Neatorama)
Save your pennies

Make your own wand – from paper!
It might be too late for Dragon*Con (Not to mention the Deathly Hallows release) but anyone planning to dress up in a Potterish fashion for Halloween may find these paper wandmaking instructions fairly useful – and definitely cheaper than the screen replicas! I bet this method could probably be adapted for quickie lightsaber handles as well. (via not martha)
Harry Potter and the Other
Here’s an interesting article on politics, religion, multiculturalism and Britishness in the Potterverse.
Harry Potter: The Musical!
Coming to London’s West End… maybe.

Do you feel lucky, punk?
Scholastic has finally kicked off their sweepstakes to distribute tickets to J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows reading at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The date for the event is Friday, October 19.
Rowling will be doing a total of four readings on her U.S. tour, but the Carnegie Hall gig is the only one that adults have a shot of attending.
Contest rules also state that if you win, you must bring Yav with you.
Fished in!
Scottish crime writer Ian Rankin admits he was only joking about J.K. Rowling working on a crime novel.
“This is a joke that got out of hand,” said Rankin, describing how the remark was made on stage during the course of a [Edinburgh] festival event.
“There were 600 people in the audience, and only one person didn’t laugh,” he added.
The AP and other wire services picked up the story, and it was all over the news last weekend. Good one, Ian, but you should have gone for romance novel!
