Ringers: on DVD today
The definitive film about Lord of the Rings fans is now available on DVD.
Amazon.com says:
Of all the documentaries devoted to J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy classic, Ringers: Lord of the Fans is the first and only one to respectfully honor the good-natured depth and breadth of Lord of the Rings fandom… Actor Dominic Monaghan (“Merry” from Jackson’s trilogy, before joining the ensemble cast of Lost) perfectly delivers the film’s eloquent narration, which runs the LOTR gamut from intellectual appreciation to the hilarious eccentricities of über-fan obsession. Unfailingly noble in spirit and delightfully comprehensive, Ringers is a collector’s gift that can proudly stand alongside Tolkien’s books and Jackson’s timeless movie trilogy.
Something else for the Christmas list!
From the blogside
Karen Traviss on the infamous Kevin J. Anderson “burger” quote… It’s not true? My world is shattered!
Also from the world of blogs.starwars.com is A-P’s Mama’s Boy, Daddy’s Girl, comparing Luke and Leia to their parents.
And today on Livejournal, Imadra_blue wrote Two Sides to Every Coin, a fascinating essay on Dooku, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Anakin.

Horror Beyond Imagination
Four, count ’em – four new commercials from The Apprentice featuring Star Wars characters: Style, Death Star, Blame Game, and Fired.
After watching these spots I’m convinced pretty much the only thing that Vader can do for Trump is put him out of my misery.
Isn’t this why we have Kevin Smith?
According to Variety, the Weinstein’s have picked up a script called “Fan Boys” that follows a group of Star Wars fans in their quest to help their dying friend make it to Skywalker Ranch to see the final film.
They also cook
Apparently there’s a fan group called the Jedi Chefs. They’ve knighted quite a few “Celebrity Jedi Chefs,” mainly actors from shows like Stargate, Buffy, Firefly, and Battlestar Galactica, but no actual Star Wars personalities, as the Unofficial BSG Blog points out.
Perhaps we should send CJ’s own Jedi chef, Qui-Gon Dave, to check them out. Or at least get himself one of those hats.

Adorable computer made in the image of everyone’s favorite astromech.

Dark Lord of the Lard
This year, the Tulsa State Fair features a statue of Vader and Yoda made out of hundreds of pounds of butter.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
