Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
DJ Maul wrote to Bob Eubanks about the Rose Parade annoucer’s discourteous comments regarding the 501st (“They need to get jobs.”) and received an apology. There’s also word that Eubanks made a public apology, but the main source seems to be a now-deleted entry on a Livejournal community. I’ll be keeping an eye on 501st.com for further news.
ETA: L.A. TFNers are saying that Eubanks was taking calls on Mike & Brian, a local radio show.

How was the parade? L.A.’s KTLA has video clips, the Spectacular being about 5 minutes into part 5. You can also vote for your favorite float.
Bob Eubanks is kind of a jerk, but the Spectacular won a Tournament Special Trophy, so who needs him?

…Well, until tomorrow. The Rose Parade starts at 8 a.m. PST/11 a.m. EST, and will be broadcast nationally on ABC, NBC, HGTV, the Travel Channel (?) and Discovery HD. (HDTV, at least, starts their coverage an hour early, and may offer some peeks at the Spectacular.) A TFN reader has guesstimated that the Star Wars contingent will appear 50 minutes to an hour into the broadcast. George, as Grand Marshall, will be about 20 floats after that.
Bonnie will be liveblogging from the site at her starwars.com blog. She also has pictures from rehearsals, and hear about dress rehearsal from Kelsey McCalla.
Sci-Fi Wire covers the parade, and there’s a video report up on Yahoo News. I can’t watch the thing, even on Yahoo’s ‘recommended browsers,’ but TFN claims they misspell Steve’s name. Okay!
George addresses the troops, for those who didn’t (or couldn’t… Damn WMVs) catch it on the 501st site. Marching practice also made some local news stations: NBC 4 and CBS 2.

Apparently the troops made it onto that bastion of journalism, Entertainment Tonight. Nothing on Youtube so far, but I did find a dancing Stormtrooper, and that’s good enough for me.
