Ticket details for Celebration Chicago

Celebration Chicago details are up! The advance prices for a five-day pass are $215 for adult, $100 for child, and one-day adult passes are $75 each, with a $55.00 Thursday “Bounty Hunter” preview. The VIP Jedi Master pass will run $850.00.

The show is April 11-15, 2019 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. This is eighth domestic Celebration and the first time the con has been extended to five days.

The tickets will go on sale June 5 at noon. If this will be your first Celebration, fear not: The standard five-day passes likely won’t sell out right away, though the VIP tickets certainly will. (I still wouldn’t wait too long, though.)

Here’s when you can visit Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge

Disney Parks has announced when the two Galaxy’s Edge parks will be open to visitors. The California one, at Disneyland, will open in “summer” 2019, while the version at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios will launch in “late fall” that same year.

Clearly, there are still details – and exact dates – to be revealed, but this is at least slightly more specific than what we last had. Whatever the date may be, expect that Fastpasses will be hard to get, and the lines will be very, very long. Luckily, we are a fandom that loves lines.

Celebration zigs when we expected it to zag, heads to Chicago

The Midwest is getting a Celebration again and I could not be more surprised. The Star Wars Show today announced that 2019’s Celebration is not going back to Anaheim, as many of us expected, but instead to Chicago. McCormick Place, home of ReedPOP’s C2E2, will host the show on April 11-15, 2019.

Tickets will go on sale on June 5 at starwarscelebration.com.

This will be the 20th Anniversary of the con, and the 9th to be held domestically. The first Celebration was hosted in Denver ahead of The Phantom Menace in 1999, and from there the show headed to Indianapolis (twice), L.A., Orlando (thrice!) and Anaheim.

The Millennium Falcon is going on tour

An interior replica of Solo‘s Millennium Falcon will be visiting four U.S. locations over the next month.

Constructed inside three 40-foot long shipping containers, visitors can stop by Lando’s bar, sit at the famed Dejarik table, and finally get the chance to say “Punch it!” from inside the iconic cockpit. The finest details were crafted using the same molds used in Solo: A Star Wars Story!

So if you’re in or nearby Highland Heights, Kentucky (seven miles southeast of Cincinnati), Atlanta, Salt Lake City, or Denver, congrats! As for the rest of us, there’s a tour in the latest episode of The Star Wars Show, which also features Marvel’s Kevin Feige and a model Falcon made with Solo cups:

Get the Last Shot con edition at Phoenix Comic Fest

The Last Shot con edition is heading to Phoenix Comic Fest (PHXCF), which takes place May 24-27 in Arizona.

Each copy has an exclusive cover (above) and is signed by author Daniel Jose Older (who’ll be in attendance,) and comes with a Peeka pin and a tote bag. It’ll cost $45 and does require picking up a wristband. There will also be copies at Denver Comic Con in June.

Other Star Wars authors at the con include Jason Fry, Rae Carson, Delilah S. Dawson, Chuck Wendig, Alan Dean Foster, and R.A. Salvatore.

Rumor: Will the next Celebration take us back to Anaheim in autumn 2019?

Today’s “rumor” is basically the most probable guesswork for the next Celebration: Fall 2019 in Anaheim. It comes to us via Star Wars News Net, a site I generally don’t trust all that much. But this one does make sense for some key reasons:

1. Episode IX is coming out in December, and for those of us old enough to remember, the original three Celebrations – tied to The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith – all took place about a month out from their respective movies. Remember, Celebration Anaheim in 2015 was planned and announced before The Force Awakens moved from May to December, so this allows for a bit of reorientation.

2. The Galaxy’s Edge expansion in Disneyland is expected to open in Spring 2019.

3. It’s Anaheim’s ‘turn’, and quite frankly I’d be shocked if it wasn’t there, as I expect no domestic Celebrations will ever happen less than 20 minutes drive from a Disney Park ever again.

So yes, it’s completely possible that this will turn out to be true. (But don’t fear to be skeptical, either.) Now, whether anyone will be able to get Fastpasses…

Flying over Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge construction site

Disney Parks released a flyover video of the construction on Galaxy’s Edge in California.

The Star Wars-themed lands, a visit to the new world of Batuu, will debut at both Disneyland and Hollywood Studios at Florida’s Disney World in 2019.

Both versions of the park will open with two rides – one involving the Millennium Falcon, and another that puts people in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order.
