Star Wars out this week: ‘The Screaming Citadel’ concludes

Two new comics and a reprint are coming to your favorite comic venue on Wednesday. Doctor Aphra #8 takes out ‘The Screaming Citadel’ crossover storyline, while Poe Dameron #16 looks deeper into the new villian. The reprint is a weird one: Called Droids Unplugged #1, it reprints shorter material from Poe Dameron #1, Star Wars #25 and Darth Maul #1. Marvel being Marvel, there’s an alternate cover version as well.

Out this week: Star Wars #32

Out today is Star Wars #32, or part 4 of ‘The Screaming Citadel.’ Head on over to your preferred comic vendor to find out why Han Solo is sporting Twilight-style vampire eyes!

June is pretty slim on book releases, but we do have a handful coming out in July, including the Battlefront II tie-in Inferno Squadron by Christie Golden. It drops July 25. I generally don’t cover games (for my own sanity, and thus yours) but it did drop a gameplay trailer a few days ago. Battlefront II itself will be out in November. (And yeah, I did put it on my personal calendar, so that may very well be the next time I mention it.)

Marvel takes on Mace Windu in Jedi of the Republic mini

Marvel’s next mini stars Mace Windu, and it’s got a very chunky, Dark Horse-style title: Jedi of the Republic — Mace Windu. (Most of Marvel’s titles have been very simple, and heavily dominated by character names, so this is something of a throwback.) Written by Matt Owens and illustrated by Denys Cowan, it’s set in the early Clone Wars period. The cover is by Jesus Saiz.

Look for the five-issue miniseries to begin in August.

Win a Star Wars notebook collection!

Since Star Wars Day is coming up later this week, let’s kick May off with a contest! Chronicle Books recently released a Star Wars Notebook Collection to celebrate the 40th anniversary of A New Hope. This three-pack of blank lined notebooks features iconic ANH artwork on the front, back, and inside covers, as well as spot quotations throughout the notebooks. Each notebook has about 60 pages, and is 6 x 8.5 in. Perfect for keeping a journal while you’re waiting for some escaped droids to show up and start you on your hero’s journey. Thanks to our friends at Chronicle Books, we’re giving away one three-notebook set to a random winner!

Want to win? Simply leave a message in the comments of this post by the deadline of 11:59 pm EDT on May 5, 2017, and we’ll announce a random winner on May 7. We can ship the book to a winner in the U.S. or deliver it to you in person if you’ll be attending Origins Game Fair in Columbus in June or San Diego Comic-Con in July.

Good luck and May the 4th be with you!
