No brand spanking new releases this week (sorry comic fans,) but Path of Destruction is now available in paperback. And word on the street is that there’s a Death Star excerpt in the back.
Book contract: New one exists, TV is separate?
A few vague words from Sue Rostoni yesterday regarding the book contract.
The new contract has been agreed upon, but the papers haven’t been signed yet and until they are I can’t reveal the publisher or number of books involved. The contract is with the legal folks and I have no clue how long it will take for it to go through the rounds, whether it would be weeks or months. I hope weeks, but we’ll see.
Keep in mind, doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a new publisher; also doesn’t mean they’re not staying with Del Rey.
However, I found this bit particularly interesting:
The animated and live action series are separate and will be contracted out separately — discussions haven’t begun for either of these yet.
What’s the ETA on Clone Wars now? 2009? If it was still 2008 I’d expect them to be in talks by now… Can’t have a major release without a Making of book! (Or maybe LucasBooks is just busy with Indy 4.)
Two Inferno excerpts!
Bane novel title: Rule of Two?
A TFN reader noticed that the Bane sequel acquired a title this weekend: Rule of Two. No doubt someone’s asking about it in the TOS VIP thread at this very moment…
UPDATE: And Sue snarketh: “The Rule of Two is a placeholder, and is unlikely to be the final title. After all, it doesn’t have Dark or Shadow in it.”
New Dark Horse previews
Catch a first look at Legacy #14 and Rebellion #8.
Sacrifice: A statement, of sorts
It is strongly advised that you don’t click the link below unless you’ve finished the book. Seriously.
Out this week
Just one thing on Wednesday – The fifth 30th Anniversary collection, Light and Dark, featuring Quinlan Vos and Count Dooku.
Bane sequel is a go for December
So sayth Sue Rostoni on the TOS:
Shelly called me late last week to propose an additional hardcover this fall. THIS fall. Yep. Del Rey figured the market could bear one more, and since the Darth Bane novel was a hit, a follow-up, written by Drew, seemed the best idea. So the untitled Feb. 09 hardcover (previously the “Plagueis” novel) has been moved up, and Drew agreed to continue Bane’s story. So we’re off and running.
The release date is slated for December 26th, 2007.
I’ll be updating our release schedule presently…
Could this be the mystery hardcover?
A TFN reader found a listing on Random House’s website for a Path of Destruction sequel. Could it be the replacement for the canceled Plagueis novel? The date might be wrong (‘Untitled Hardcover’ is set for release early 2009) but a second Bane novel might not be a bad idea…
Chat Sacrifice on Saturday
This weekend, #eu on holonet.org is hosting a discussion of Sacrifice, the latest Legacy of the Force book. (Click the link for details.) Better have read the book by then though, because there’s no spoiler-free alternative!
