The Expanded Universe chat will be discussing the latest release, Coruscant Nights: Jedi Twilight, tonight at 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific. If you’re new to IRC, you can join via the web client, just for tonight.
UGO’s best and worst characters of the EU
UGO counts down the fifty best and worst characters of the Expanded Universe. And do keep in mind that the list seems to be backwards (Because otherwise? I can’t really buy a character from a game that isn’t even out yet as #1, even considering it’s a gaming site. Not that any of us are going to take this any more seriously than any other random online list… Right?)
More The Clone Wars pics
Starwars Union has some high-res pics from the movie that I, at least, haven’t seen before. (You’ll have to scroll a bit, past highlight-to-read spoilers, but at least none of them are in English.) Permalinked! Thanks, Christian!
Meanwhile, StarWars.com has a look at DK readers.
Karen Traviss on The Clone Wars
The author, whose first TCW book is due out in a matter of weeks, updated her website with a few words on the project:
CLONE WARS, the hardcover based on the movie – loosely based, so no griping that it’s different, because that’s the whole point – is out on July 26. Full of the gritty, off-message, character-testing, question-raising, grey-area, military-oriented stuff you’ve come to expect from me. And clones. Plenty of clones. And familiar characters from the movies that you won’t see quite the same way ever again.
In other news of interest for Traviss fans, Eos is offering her first Wess’har novel, City of Pearl, as a free download through August. (via)
Escapist Magazine takes on Star Wars
The webzine’s issue #156 is devoted to Star Wars, from to lightsabers to gaming to merchandising to the Expanded Universe (plus an interview with Drew Karpyshyn) and even pirating the original original trilogy.
Video: YJK of horrors
A Young Jedi Knights book recreated by the target demographic. Warning: Contains bad wigs and adolescent rap.
Thursday at ComicCon
There’s plenty going on, but particularly of note:
8:30-10:00 Star Wars Fan Film Awards
It’s the galaxy-spanning return of a Comic-Con favorite! The Star Wars Fan Film Awards come back to Ballroom 20 as the Thursday night big event. Ballroom 20
Speaking of, voting on the Fan Movie Challenge finalists ends on Thursday. There’s also a Random House panel at 6:00, but with Betsy Mitchell the only familiar name present, I suspect they’ll save any Star Wars publishing news for a dedicated panel. (via)
UPDATE: Or not. Here’s what Sue Rostoni had to say about on the subject:
There will be a panel dedicated to The Clone Wars program, but not one on general fiction. Frank Parisi (LFL editor) and Carol Roeder (LFL director of publishing) will be on the panel along with Leland Chee and Henry Gilroy (writer of Dark Horse Clone Wars comics) and others. Pablo will moderate. I won’t be there this year.
I guess we’re probably not getting a Millennium Falcon cover or Fate of the Jedi announcement, then…
Comics from the future: October releases
Rebelscum has Dark Horse’s October solicitations, including Legacy #29/Vector part 10, Clone Wars #2, Knights of the Old Republic #34, the second volume of the new Clone Wars digest, and the fourth Legacy collection, Alliance.
Jedi Twilight chat at #eu this Sunday
The Expanded Universe chat is hosting a chat on Michael Reaves’ Coruscant Nights: Jedi Twilight this coming Sunday at 8pm Eastern (5pm Pacific.) Our host will be #eu regular and TFN mod (a good one) Grand Admiral Jello.
I guess I’d better start reading…
More on The Clone Wars for young readers
StarWars.com has the first look at on Penguin’s line for younger readers, including a cover gallery. (Above, the relevant bits of the junior novelization cover.)
