Also of interest may be io9’s gallery of TFU concept art.

Catching up with the Expanded Universe: Leland Chee, RPGing KOTOR, Rebel Force, Bookcrossing

Leland Chee is Wired

  • People: Wired has a hefty profile of Lucasfilm’s continuity guru, Keeper of the Holocron Leland Chee. (Who then blogged about it, naturally.) A must-read for all you fannish continuity savants!
  • RPG: io9 previews the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide, which came out today.
  • Upcoming: Amazon.co.uk is saying that newcomer Alex Wheeler is penning Scholastic’s Rebel Force series. Google doesn’t pull up any likely suspects and it is Amazon, so don’t assume this is for real yet – though if it is, my guess would be that ‘Alex Wheeler’ is somebody’s brand-new pen name. But remember, we still have yet to see any official announcement of this series to begin with, so nothing is certain. (via)
  • Misc: Tracking a copy of The Empire Strikes Back novelization.

Star Wars Comics this week

Coming out this Wednesday from Bad Horse, err.. Dark Horse:

  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #32 (Vindication, Part 1) – Zayne Carrick and the Jedi masters who framed him square off in front of the rest of the Jedi order. How will the last part of the Jedi prophecy come true?
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed graphic novel – Want to know the story of Vader’s secret apprentice without having to play the game (when the game eventually is released?). Haden Blackman, who scripted the game, has also penned this 100-page graphic novel with art from Brian Ching, Bong Dazo, and Wayne Nichols.

Also hitting the comic book shops: Indiana Jones magazine #3.

More hints from Sue Rostoni on upcoming books

Nothing specific, of course – but another comic project? Vector should end in December, so 2009 is primed for… Something. I’m not even going to begin to guess, but I hope it’s not something Clone Wars.

At some point in the near future, I hope, I will be able to remove the tape from my fingers and actually type you more complete information about what’s coming up. Just be assured that the unmentionable 9-book series rumor is not the only stew on the stove. There will be ample side-dishes and a few chocolate sprinkles here and there. Plus, Dark Horse is brewing something as well, something that I am very excited about….

I suspect the reason we’ve been waiting so long for a contract announcement is because they want to reveal a full slate of new releases along with it…

Rumors: Fate of the Jedi and Christie Golden

UPDATE: Golden’s involvement was confirmed as of September 12, 2008. Googlers, for the very latest news on the Fate of the Jedi series, please see our Fate of the Jedi tag!

There’s been a rumor floating around the TFN boards for a while now about Fate of the Jedi. So far, all we know for sure is that there’s one book, by Aaron Allston, that appeared on Amazon. When asked, Sue Rostoni commented on it. Confirmed? Sort of… Maybe not. Only LFL knows, and we still don’t even have an official announcement on the Del Rey contract renewal…

The most rumory bit comes in when a random poster on TFN’s Lit boards (JohnTheRevelator) claimed that FOTJ is going to be a nine-book series, much like Legacy of the Force, with the author duties split between Allston, Troy Denning, and Christine Golden. (Golden has written many tie-ins, but no Star Wars, so far.) The news coming out of nowhere, TFN posters were rightly skeptical. Later, another poster (fanboyskywalker) claimed to have confirmed the information at SDCC, but again could provide no actual proof. (And to help matters along he seems to have mixed FOTJ up with other upcoming projects, like Traviss’ Boba Fett novel.) The news eventually made it over to StarWars.com and someone asked Sue, who had this to say:

I met her some time ago and she’s very enthusiastic about the unnamed project I can’t talk about. She’s a team player and a good communicator.

So now we know that Golden is on board for something. As we still really don’t know much about that many upcoming books, I’m hesitant to assume it’s Fate of the Jedi, but that’s certainly a possibility.

Sue also had some comments on the 9-book format, which I’ve put under the cut: Continue reading “Rumors: Fate of the Jedi and Christie Golden”
