Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
Two comics and two collections are our new releases this Wednesday, September 19. Head to the comic store for Star Wars #54 or Lando: Double or Nothing #5. For the trade collectors, there’s Doctor Aphra Volume 1 in hardcover, and for Legends fans, the prequel-era Menace Revealed Volume 1 collection.
The week begins with the Solo junior novelization, and ends with Solo itself on digital, with some comics in-between.
With Thrawn: Alliances out now for more than a month (and being the first non-adapted Star Wars novel to be an NYT #1 since Heir to the Empire), James talks Thrawn, Vader, Padme and Anakin and spoilers with Timothy Zahn.

There’s a quick glimpse at a Solo deleted scene – and concept art of another – in the book trailer for next week’s Solo: A Star Wars Story: Expanded Edition.
The novelization, written by Mur Lafferty, will be out in hardcover and eBook on September 4.
Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy’s Most Notorious is a new book coming from Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo in the fall. The fully illustrated hardcover is “made entirely of notes and intel from three generations of a family of police officers, spanning the eras of the Republic, Empire, and New Republic.” StarWars.com talks to Pablo about the book, his influences, and what kind of things we can expect to see.
The book will be out October 23.
Three new comics and two adaptations are coming this Wednesday, August 29. From Marvel, look for Lando: Double or Nothing #4 and Poe Dameron Annual #2 (variant). Meanwhile, all-ages imprint IDW has Star Wars Adventures #13 and adaptations of The Last Jedi and A New Hope.
StarWars.com talks to author Gina McIntyre about her upcoming book, Star Wars Icons: Han Solo about interviewing Harrison Ford and digging into the origins of the character. They also give us a look at two additional spreads from the book.
The book will be out in hardcover on November 13.
There’s a set of three new short Solo novelization excerpts on StarWars.com today filling in-between scenes from the film – one with Qi’ra and Lady Proxima, one with L3-37 and the Millennium Falcon, and one with Enfys Nest and some other familiar characters. Mur Lafferty’s Solo: A Star Wars Story: Expanded Edition will be out on September 4.

Wednesday, August 22 brings two new comics and the latest Insider. Head to your comic provider for Doctor Aphra #23, Darth Vader #20 and Star Wars Insider #183.
It’s not long now until our next novel, Mur Lafferty’s Solo novelization. We got our first excerpt of the book last week. And while it’s still fairly far out, note that Claudia Gray’s Master and Apprentice has moved from February to April.
