Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly, and Orlando Bloom are to participate in a round the world race to promote “Pirates of the Caribbean 2.”
The trio of Hollywood actors – whose fictional sailing skills delighted millions of cinema-goers in the 2003 movie – will take turns lending their assistance to the qualified yachtsmen and women in the grueling eight-month Volvo Ocean Race.
The BLACK PEARL vessel – named after the ship in the blockbuster film – will first welcome British beauty Knightley on board for the European stretch of the contest.
Bloom will take-over for South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, while Depp will be joining the Black Pearl team ahead of their return to the US.
“Blog” will appear in the latest edition of Webster’s New World College Dictionary.
And Dunc rejoiced. Now she can tell clueless newbies to, “Look it up in the dictionary!”
“Wedgie” also made the book:
wedgie: noun. a prank in which the victim’s undershorts are jerked upward so as to become wedged between the buttocks.
Somehow I think it will be a hot day on Hoth before that one makes it into Oxford’s. ;)
Mini Faces of Ewan has apparently been around a while, but if I missed it, you might have too.
The site features hilarious and astonishingly detailed recreations of scenes from movies starring Ewan McGregor using 12″ dolls. The Trainspotting one is my personal favorite.
Thanks to Knitting Nancy for the head’s up on this one!
Today marks the opening of the musical version of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”!
“Spamalot” follows the travails of King Arthur as he gathers knights to join him on his quest for the Holy Grail. Suddenly the men realize that where they belong is on Broadway. Hilarity reigns as spoofs of past stage triumphs such as “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserables,” “The Boy From Oz” and “Fiddler on the Roof” are thrown at the audience.
And if that’s not enough excitement for one day, “Lord of the Rings” is also set to take to the stage in a musical version. But according to the producers:
“There will be no singing and dancing Hobbits.”
What? That’s an outrage! ;)
There is finally an official website for Ewan McGregor’s “Guys and Dolls.”
Looks like Peter Jackson has lost that lovin’ feeling for the company he teamed with to bring the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy to the big screen.
He, and co-screenwriter Fran Walsh, have filed a lawsuit against New Line Cinema claiming it withheld profits from FOTR.
Ahh…this book collector is very happy! Looks like we’ll be getting two new Chronicles books: one one the posters and one giving the Chronicles treatment to the Prequels.
Chronicle Books is the company that brings us those really cool coffee table books like the super-huge Star Wars Chronicles. They know how to do the big books correctly.
Best of all, these two books are being authored by Steve Sansweet and Pablo Hidalgo. And we know they know their stuff.
You’ll have to wait until the end of the year, though, to see them.
Dagnabbit.
Del Rey has an interesting interview with “Labyrinth of Evil” author James Luceno.
I don’t agree with a lot of what he has to say in the interview about Anakin and Obi-Wan’s relationship. In fact, it seems incongruent with what he wrote in his book. Regardless, LoE is a good read. I’d even go so far as to say I wouldn’t want to go into ROTS without having read both LoE and the utterly brilliant “Dark Rendezvous.”
