I never had a chance to check out the Star Trek Experience in Vegas, and now it looks like I never will. While the original mission was to go where no man (no one?) had gone before, it now appears it’s just….going.
Stargate MMORPG looks likely to blow fans away
By now everyone that’s any kind of gaming type has heard World of Warcraft referred to as “Warcrack” and knows how addicting an MMORPG can be; well, there’s a new drug coming in the Fall of 2008.
Yep, Stargate. A Stargate MMORPG. Let that roll around your tongue for a minute…savor it. Ok, you can swallow now. Really. That’s just getting disturbing.
According to the “About” site at Stargateworlds.com, the game is going to be using the Unreal 3 engine, if I read it right. Having never played Unreal Tournament, I can only guess that’s what they’re referring to. I can’t believe I’m actually more stoked about this than I was for Star Wars Galaxies (poodoo!) The ad on the new Stargate: The Ark of Truth DVD looked really good, but there’s no solid indication that it was representative of the actual game; it might have just been some animation to advertise. If it WAS representative, then oh YEAH this is going to be fun!
Gary Gygax, dead at 69
Who has played an RPG (Role-Playing Game) in their life? If you’re one of the geek-minded subculture of gamers, then the answer is most of you. Today, the co-creator of the grandfather of all role-playing games, Gary Gygax, died at his home in Lake Geneva, WI, the origin site of GenCon. The article I saw it at is here, as reported by SlashDot.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Gygax. Your contribution to entertainment and leisure time has provided countless hours, days, even months of fun, learning, and opportunities to grow in many lives, for many years.
Dark Side Wins…Sort of.
If you’re Andy Woerner and his crazy rocketeer friends (translation: Geeks), and you have an idea, four Class M solid-fuel rocket engines, Baltic Birch wood, solid aluminum, CAD software, and friends at Polecat Aerospace (helped by RMS Laser and Aerotech Consumer Aerospace), what would you do?
Build a flyable X-wing fighter, of course.
The Flight of the X-Wing occurred on October 6.

It took six drinks, but I FINALLY have a buzz! Apparently, the drinks I tried were VERY low in alcohol content. I’ve rectified this…Death Sticks have done the job. Heh.
Last Man Standing…
Well, literally…but I’m not the last sentient. According to the door list, Eliz and PG are both also left in the Bounty Hunt. Sadly, I’m also “Wanted”, as I forgot we were in an “out of bounds” zone and tried to kill my target. Oops. Now, I’m fair game for ANYone, and Yav keeps reviving as a clone…I’ve killed her once, and she’s died twice. So, we’ll see what happens…I’m having fun…that’s all that matters.
Well, that and winning. Yep.
Schlepping…
Yes…it’s true. I, Sithspit, schlepped. What can I say? Mary Franklin seduced me to the solid phase of H2O side of the Dark Side. It wasn’t too bad. But Deet can suck eggs…I still ain’t schlepping for her. She threatened me with bodily harm and she’s not even my apprentice. :-P
