Back from Hoth

Nope. Not a Star Wars story. But the cast of the upcoming Stargate SG1 movies felt like they were on Hoth when they went to the North Pole to shoot scenes.

GateWorld has compiled the coverage and pictures into one story about their adventures.

In news from Stargate Atlantis, GateWorld has posted their interview with Paul McGillion (Dr. Beckett). It contains many spoilers for the second half of Season 3 (which has finally started airing in the US). There’s also some great talk about his appearances in A Dog’s Breakfast and Sanctuary.

The Gate Reopens Tonight

Fans in the US will finally get to see the second half of the current seasons of Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis, tonight, on SciFi Channel‘s SciFi Fridays.

The producers are, understandably, a bit nervous about whether or not anyone will actually be watching, since many US fans found other means to see the episodes that had already aired in other parts of the world. According to Joseph Mallozzi, whether or not Stargate Atlantis will get a Season 5 could depend on ratings during the second half of Season 3.

And now that fans can finally see the last part of the last season of Stargate SG1 on TV, the Season 10 DVD’s North American release has been announced as July 24th.

Huh. It worked!

Never discount the ability of a few ticked off fans to get some cave-in from show producers. Congratulations to SaveCarsonBeckett.com.

Yes, folks, Carson Beckett is making a return to Stargate Atlantis. Paul McGillion has been signed for two episodes with a possible third in the works for Season 4.

Apparently we’re to look for hints as to how they’re bringing Carson back in the last half of Season 3, which starts up again this Friday on SciFi.

Cynical comments can be left behind the cut. I’m just happy to see a little victory for the fans!

Did they manage to Save Carson?

In the ongoing saga of the Save Carson Beckett campaign, a small victory was scored with the sighting of several “protestors” on NBC’s Today Show.

Joe Mallozzi, who issued the challenge to make it onto an entertainment show says that he asked for either Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood. But given how he revels in the snark, it’s difficult to say whether or not he’ll cut the fans a break and actually go with the majority position that The Today Show is an entertainment show.

Either way, Paul McGillion sends his appreciation straight from Hollywood’s pilot season via SFX Magazine.

The family that films together…

If you’re in the Fairfax, California area on Friday, you might want to check out the debut cinematical work of one Emma Burtt, 4th-grade daughter of Mr. Ben Burtt, the creator of the sound of Star Wars (and millions of other things).

Emma and father created a documentary about the crash of a B-17 in the area back in 1946.

Bet ya never knew that a B-17 crashed in the Fairfax area in 1946, did ya?
