Gate Geekiness

In today’s Stargate bits, we have:

Producer Robert Cooper reveals just what The Ark of Truth (the upcoming straight-to-DVD SG-1 movie) refers to. (Spoilers. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

Cooper also tells the SciFi Wire that the much-discussed third Stargate series is still being developed.

Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) spills just a little about the last SG-1 episode.

Bridge Studios, home to Stargate and many other sciffy kinds of shows, has been sold.

And, most amusingly, David Hewlett’s Spacey’s acceptance, um, squealing is now available on YouTube. (You might want to turn down the volume for this one.)

Battlestar Bits

Edward James Olmos (Bill Adama) and Katie Sackhoff (Kara “Starbuck” Thrace) talk about Battlestar’s end.

Bodie Olmos (Hotdog) talks about how tough it is to be a recurring character.

Executive producer Ron Moore doesn’t seem to be focusing on that, though, and is talking about the upcoming movie.

As for future movies of this reimagining? Well, you’d best be starting to bribe Glen Larson (producer of the original) right now, because he’s not so enthused….

Gate Goodness

Season 3 hasn’t finished yet, but the Stargate Atlantis producers are already teasing Season 4 on Stargate’s video site.

We also have the Region 1 and 2 release dates for Stargate Atlantis Season 3 of September 18th and August 27th, respectively. (Don’t be jealous of the UK fans. They have to run about collecting individual discs.)

In other fun Gate news, Stargate Atlantis and David Hewlett (Rodney McKay) took home Spacey’s, last night, for Favorite TV Show and Favorite TV Character.

Stargate Atlantis Threatened?

After a SciFi-imposed six-month hiatus in the US, the Stargate franchise has seen a dip in viewership. Anecdotally, most regular Stargate viewers have already seen the now-airing episodes online. But the actual TV ratings still play a huge part in the decision of whether or not to renew.

Producer Joseph Mallozzi gives his thoughts and worries about this and puts out a plea to get everyone to tune in to these last three episodes to help support SciFi’s decision to greenlight Season 5.

(Of amusement to the hockey nuts on our list, see the pictorial of the aftermath of Carl Binder‘s vow that he would eat a now-very-old Duck-themed cupcake if the Ducks took the Stanley Cup.)

Time to take a stand

The new season of The 4400 starts next week. To get you back in the mood, USA has put up websites that are Pro-Promicin and Anti-Promicin.

If you can’t decide where you stand (or, let’s face it, if it’s been too long for you to remember where you stand), then there’s a nice summary site to help you along.

I don’t know. If I could develop the ability to predict the Lottery, it might be worth taking the Promicin!
