The Outing That Shook the World

This is usually Yav’s beat, but she’s all busy doing something silly, like actual work. ::snort:: At any rate, the insanity of the Dumbledore outing continues.

– Giving validation to all the slash-fic’ers out there, David Thewlis (aka Remus Lupin) reports that he and director Alfonso Cuaron missed the mark a bit where his own character’s sexuality was concerned. (Plus, a nice story about David’s new book.)

– Jo, herself, got grilled a bit in Toronto, afterwards. And gives hope that a bit more of the Harry Potter universe might appear after a bit of a break.

– And GLAAD reminds us to play nice.

Eureka! There’s a 3rd Season!

In all my Stargate Atlantis renewal euphoria, I failed to realize that the announcement in Variety also included news that Eureka was getting its third season, as well. More wackiness to come!

No word on Flash Gordon, but would anyone be terribly shocked if it didn’t get renewed? It’s been struggling. And no amount of Battlestar Galactica Razor teasing seems to be able to help it.

In other TV news, Pushing Daisies is blooming with happiness over its full season order. (Why, yes. I did have to go there. Look how much I’ve used the whole eureka thing.)

And the natives rejoice

Just found this on Variety (since SciFi seems to be having issues, this morning).

Stargate Atlantis has been renewed for Season 5!

Although the show has been averaging around the same as the rest of the network on the regular Nielson numbers, SciFi was supposedly asking for more. Thankfully, adding in the DVR and iTunes numbers has helped to demonstrate that it’s a bigger hit than the Nielson’s show. (No, really?)

Color me pleased….

Gate Geekiness for the Day

The SGA episode that will launch a thousand fanfics, Doppleganger, seems to be getting some good buzz. Hopefully ratings will support it.

The show’s writer/director, Robert C. Cooper, dropped by Joe Mallozzi’s blog to answer some questions about the episode.

Joe also reports that the new-fangled “Ratings +3” numbers that add in DVR and internet viewings show a nice little jump for the first episode. Here’s hoping that will sway SciFi into renewing for Season 5.

In other Gate news, Paul McGillion tells GateWorld that his two episodes aren’t just gimmicks but involve some “meaty” storyline for Carson Beckett.

More fanfics?
