Once more, with Paley

The long-anticipated PaleyFest Buffy Reunion came to pass. (My boss got to go, the evil woman. Did she take me along? Nooo…)

All sorts of coverage:

Watch with Kristin gets some funny stuff from several cast members on the ticket craziness and where those characters are today.
Who knew Buffy went both ways? (A funny exchange captured by MTV.)
As the hosts, TV Guide got all sorts of fun stuff like videos, play-by-plays, love for Joss and the introduction to the event by Matt Roush. (Sorry. Lots of scrolling with TV Guide. They don’t so much believe in making things easily linkable.)

Gate Geek – Well, that was a long trip

So Stargate Atlantis Season 4 wrapped up in the US with The Last Man. So how long a stretch are we expecting before we get new stuff?

According to Alex Levine, it might just be this summer. And according to the promo for the SuperFan contest, it’s July. So yay!

There’s also a great interview with David Hewlett to enjoy. (Thanks to Scary for the tip.)

In the meantime, we have a SG-1 adventure to extend the new Stargate love for at least another week. And, if all goes well with their pilot, we’ll have a new series from Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge which you know will just become an extension of the Stargate family.

Still. That’s a long time to wait….

David Hewlett takes over the geeks

Before you non-Stargate fans start mocking, you might want to take another look at what David Hewlett (Rodney McKay) is up to these days. I think he’s trying to become Joss Whedon, or something, and take over the geeks.

In a long-delayed update to his site, David confirms the following geek-inspired projects in the works:

Starcrossed – A comedy series pilot for SciFi that pokes fun at making sci-fi series
Design of the Dead – A new film that crosses zombies and home design shows (I know a few CJers who would like this one)
Heir of the Dog – A sequel to A Dog’s Breakfast. We’ll see how many more Vancouver-area sci-fi actors he can talk into appearing, this time.

Speaking of A Dog’s Breakfast, there are finally a few international release dates for that one. So check his latest blog to see if your country is there, yet.

For the Gate geeks, he reports that he’s quite happy with how Season 5 looks, so far. Although the battle of the multi-colored scripts rages on. (I forsee a scene in Starcrossed!)

Gate Geek – Indeed

Well, things are lookin’ mighty interesting going into the season finale for Atlantis. As usual, there are more tidbits to watch on the sneak preview on the official site.

However, we can live through our inter-season despair, safe in the knowledge that the next season is underway; as evidenced by the traditional cast dinner in which Joe Mallozzi moved too slow in keeping his dessert away from Jason Momoa. (Would you argue with Jason?)

In SG1 news, they are really flooding the internet with wondrous tidbits to enjoy; including all sorts of new videos and the chance to ask producer Robert Cooper those burning questions you’ve always wanted answered.

Don’t want to send a message there? They’ve added another cool “messaging” system using Ark of Truth clips.

What the frak is going on?

Has it been a while since you’ve watched Battlestar Galactica? Trying to dust off the cobwebs, but don’t have hours to rewatch all your DVD’s?

Have no fear. SciFi put together a really funny summary that takes you from the beginning of the series through the end of Season 3. Well worth enjoying.

(By the way, the Season 3 DVD set is finally coming out on March 18th.)

BSG Leaks?

From the rapidly swelling buzz that I see starting, they must be pretty juicy, but I’m staying away. But who am I to spoil the fun for those of you outside the Spoiler Cave?

Gate Geek – The Big Finish

Nope. I’m not talking about the end of SGA Season 5 (although aren’t you dying to find out how it all comes together?), but Michelle points out that the company Big Finish has moved forward with selling their “talking books” for SG1 and SGA.

There is a clip available on the SG1 page to give you an idea of the production value for these things. I must say, I’m impressed. They’re less audio book and more radio production, without the large cast. (I’d link you to it, but their servers seem a bit overwhelmed, today.)

MENSA – Are they really all that smart?

Just to prove that even the smartest among us can over-think things, MENSA has released their Top Ten Smartest TV Shows and there isn’t one genre show on it.

Not to say that these aren’t great shows, but to admit that Star Trek and Stargate SG-1 were on the viewing list, but not included? A sad oversight.

Gate Geek – The Excitement Builds (Indeed)

So which way do we go this week? Excitement that Atlantis is rocketing towards the end of what has proven to be a rockin’ season? Or excitement that SG1 is about to rejoin us with all sorts of movie goodness?

SG1 – Rockin’ the Ark

March 11th will soon be here. Can you believe it?! Well, MGM certainly can by releasing another teaser video with some wonderfully breath-taking shots in it. This one’s going to be of the pretty, folks!

Atlantis – Oh, The Tension!

Okay. Kindred, Part I. Although rather rudely spoiled by SciFi in their promo (yes, you kinda figured, but did they really have to do it?), this episode finally started rocketing us towards the resolution of every hanging storyline out there.

Joe Mallozzi took the lead on this one and shared what he was thinking and some deleted/alternate scenes.
