Two comics and a brand-new Insider are heading to the shelves on Wednesday, July 19. Darth Maul #5 ends the latest miniseries, while Poe Dameron #17 takes Black Squadron back into action. Star Wars Insider #174 jumps in with a Finn feature.
D23: Star Wars lands officially named Galaxy’s Edge; Themed resort coming to Disney World
Disney Parks announced that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the official name for the twin lands that will be coming to Disneyland and Disney World. We know we’ll all keep calling it Star Wars land regardless, but hey: They’re trying.
We learned more about the park’s two rides, including concept art. And although we don’t get slid dates, the Disneyland version is expected to open first – though likely only by a few months, as they’re both still expected for 2019.
Also coming – though only to Disney World – will be a Star Wars-themed resort that will be “100-percent immersive.”
D23: The Last Jedi behind-the-scenes video, new character posters
It’s here! The behind-the-scenes reel for The Last Jedi gives us a peek at the production, and a LOT of new things, or at least, things we’ve heard about…
We’re also getting posters! Leia, Rey, Finn, Poe, Luke and Kylo.
The video was the Star Wars highlight, but the panel did include some very heavy hints that Finn and Phasma would face off. Look at these dorks:
D23 offers detailed look at upcoming Star Wars lands
Debuting last night at Disney’s D23 Expo is our first up close and personal look at the model for the upcoming Star Wars land coming in 2019 to both U.S. parks.
The land’s setting will be a brand-new planet, “a remote trading port and one of the last stops before Wild Space.” It will debut with two rides – a Millennium Falcon mission and a First Order/Resistance battle – but it looks like the real fun may just be wandering around the place.
I haven’t heard if they’ve said if this model is the Disney World or Disneyland model, but in the concept art the two had extremely similar layouts. The Orlando version will be at Hollywood Studios, while Anaheim’s will be part of Disneyland.

Rebels and The Star Wars Show get Emmy nods
Star Wars fans have several categories to watch at the Primetime Emmys this year. The two big ones for the franchise are Rebels with a nomination for Outstanding Children’s Program, and The Star Wars Show for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.
But when it comes to numbers, there are Star Wars folks all over the map. The late Carrie Fisher is up for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on Amazon’s Catastrophe. The Bright Lights documentary that focused on Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, also got two nominations.
Donald Glover’s Atlanta got a total of six nods, including Outstanding Comedy Series and a Lead Actor, Directing and Writing nods for Glover himself. Fellow Solo castmember Michael Kenneth Williams is up for his supporting role in The Night of.
Ewan McGregor goes up against Riz Ahmed for Lead Actor in a Limited Series for Fargo and The Night of, respectively. They got each got a second nod for Narrator (McGregor in Wild Scotland) and Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (Ahmed in Girls).
Other Star Wars actors with nominations include Laura Dern (Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for Big Little Lies) and Ben Mendelsohn (Guest Actor in a Drama Series, for Bloodline).
#WheresRey? Only in the mail, apparently
Remember the Star Wars Monopoly game that launched the #WheresRey campaign? Despite Hasbro’s promises, it turns out that Rey never made to the U.S. version of the game “due to insufficient interest” from retailers, a Hasbro spokewoman told the AP.
People who buy the game here can request a piece from Hasbro – they’ve had just over a hundred requests in North America. The Rey game piece can be found (sometimes) in five other markets, including the U.K. and France.
The #WheresRey campaign did seem to have an impact on Rogue One marketing – Jyn Erso toys did not seem to be in any short supply, and hopefully the trend will hold for The Last Jedi.
The Star Wars Show teases The Last Jedi at D23 Expo
The Star Wars Show is teasing all the stuff we’ll see (or hear about) at this weekend’s D23 Expo. The likeliness of behind-the-scenes content for The Last Jedi seems high. It seems very high.
Andi also mentions a livestream, and you can see the schedule here. It doesn’t seem to include any panels, but Andi will be talking to Ashley Eckstein Friday and Saturday at 1:30 p.m., and Jennifer Heddle on Sunday at noon.
Ron Howard gives us a look inside the Han Solo wardrobe
Ron Howard finally points his camera at something we can use – someone’s wardrobe. The Twitter version features some colorful and very satiny jackets, while the Instagram one looks a bit more like capes. Consensus? Lando, naturally. Seems a little too easy, though.
Meanwhile, Woody Harrelson comments on the director change… Well, exactly how you’d expect Woody Harrelson to comment.
Forces of Destiny: Leia and Sabine take on a ‘Bounty of Trouble’
It’s Leia and Sabine’s turn to team up in Forces of Destiny’s ‘Bounty of Trouble.’
