As we’ve learned in the past few years, every new Star Wars movie is the best one when one sees it on premiere night. But the praise for The Last Jedi is particularly enthusiastic and even occasionally thoughtful. Will it hold? Too soon to say, but for now, this is what we’re getting… All that and the beefcake 411, under the cut.
Mark Hamill was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Friday night, and while the sketch was so-so, the interview did go a little bit off the beaten path.
A new featurette takes a look at the locations of The Last Jedi, and it’s chock full of behind-the-scenes footage of filming in Croatia and Ireland, plus a few tiny new clips.
Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy says she would “love” for Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi to direct a Star Wars movie. “I think he has exactly the right sensibility. It was very exciting to see him step into the Marvel universe and do such an amazing job with Thor,” she told Newshub.
Their headline aside, it’s hardly a deal, and given the recent issues with Solono one would blame Waititi for being wary. But it’s certainly not a bad idea by any means. It just takes the right project, scheduling, and all that boring time-consuming technical stuff.
The Last Jedi press conference (and junket) was held on Sunday, and while it was low on news, an official video has now been released so you can comb through it for details on your specific foci. It had fun moments, but you can feel the exhaustion pouring off all these poor people. Moderated by Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican, it features Rian Johnson, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson and Andy Serkis.
It’s our last gasp before all The Last Jedi books hit on December 15, with the novella collection Canto Bight hitting the shelves on Tuesday, December 5. It features stories from Saladin Ahmed, Rae Carson, Mira Grant, and John Jackson Miller and gives us our first detailed look at some of the characters inhabiting the casino world.
Columbia Sportswear is launching a limited edition Star Wars Echo Base collection. The three standard Han, Luke and Leia coats retail for $400 each and will available in limited quantities (only 1,980 of each) at certain brand retail locations in the U.S. and online on December 8.
A brown ‘archive’ edition of the Han coat will be an “extremely limited run,” signed by Harrison Ford himself. 100% of the proceeds from the sales will go to Conservation International. One of these will cost you even more – $1980.
