Movie News: King Kong, XF2, Harry Potter

Fan site Kong is King has a video production diary from Peter Jackson on the set of King Kong. Directors and fansites working together? What strange land is this?

Casting news for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: the Patil twins and Gabrielle Delacour.

X-Files 2 rumors again, this time from the lips of Robert Patrick (John Dogget.)

Dougray Scott might be the new James Bond. Tidbit: He was cast as Wolverine in X-Men, but dropped out to do Mission Impossible 2. Huh.

The Fantastic Four are set for three films. The linked article focuses on Chris Evans, who will play Johnny Storm and is currently starring in Cellular.

Hamill talks sequels

TFN posted this early in the morning and fandom went wild, as it is wont to do. Of course, they failed to clarify that Mark was talking about things George said back on the ANH set. They did edit the item this afternoon. IESB has quotes.

And for those who didn’t watch the Charlie Rose show last night, George DID say that after ROTS the story is over. Really. Over.

Of course, at the same press conference, LFL did confirm that they have a TV series in the pipeline. So who knows?

TV News: Smallville, Seth Green, Lost

Christopher Reeve has showed up on Smallville several times as scientist Dr. Virgil Swann. Annette O’Toole, who played Lana Lang in Superman III, is a series regular as Martha Kent. Now another familiar face from the Superman films will be joining them for the show’s fourth season.

If you’re anything like me and have a weakness for Seth Green and puppets, you’ll be happy to know that short-lived FOX sitcom Greg the Bunny is coming back as a half hour special on IFC.

Angel‘s David Fury finds a new home with Lost.

USA’s The Dead Zone isn’t going anywhere. The series, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, is one of the top-rated shows on cable.

Take a look at the Star Trek: Original Series DVD packaging. I think it’s pretty neat! The set is due in store on December 14th – just in time to gift your favorite Trekkie.

Movie News: X-Men, Underworld, and Clerks

Joss Whedon X-Men rumors ‘all-but-official.’ Yay! And Whedon’s been quoted as saying he wouldn’t direct unless he could write the script, so… Double yay! A lot of people are afraid this will take him away from Buffy and Angel work, but think how much good this could do for his career… And come’on! It’s X-Men! As for Storm… dear lord, just write her out. Or recast. Halle Berry was never the best choice in the first place – I’m sure there’s a ton of young actresses in Hollywood who could fill in.

There’s talk about doing a sequel to Underworld. Gotta agree with John at Movieblog – Underworld was a fairly crappy film that had the possibility of being something pretty good.

More on the Clerks sequel – Kevin Smith soothes fan’s worries. And check out this review of the Clerks 10th anniversary DVD.

Movie News

Filming starts on Peter Jackson’s King Kong next week.

John Rhys-Davies (Sallah) talks about the fourth Indiana Jones movie, says that Lucas wants to take another pass at the script. George Lucas? Script? Always an, erm, hopeful sign.

Narnia Fans has a copy of the press release with all the details on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

There’s another Highlander movie coming? Although this article from Movie Poop Shoot is about an animated feature, there’s also a bit about a fifth live action installment titled Highlander: The Source. Epp!

Speaking of live action, the film version of Aeon Flux has been shut down due to an injury to the star, Charlize Theron. Sounds like a good idea to me. The last time we had starlet + Oscar + action film, we got Catwoman.
