Spike TV paid $65 to $70 million for a six-year exclusive deal to run all six Star Wars movies, as well as enforcing the sterotype that girls don’t like Star Wars.
Not that I won’t watch the movies on Spike. It’s just… annoying.
The Air Force is testing transparent aluminum… As Karen Traviss points out, we’re getting damn close to transparisteel!
Also, the testing is at the Wright-Patterson Air Force base… I’ve been there. It’s where the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is. Totally a must-see for anyone into that sort of thing – it’s huge. (And if you’re lucky, sometimes they give tours of the warehouses of all the stuff they’re not putting up in the main museum. Or at least they did a few years back.)
So no doubt you’ve learned now that Daniel Craig is going to play James Bond, right? You can’t go anywhere without seeing the horrible headlines. (Seriously, folks: Bond, James Bond? NO SHIT.)
Anyway, the rumor mill has gotten hold of a leaked “in-house memo” that gives reasons for not casting actors most people have actually heard of. Witness:
Hugh Jackman, it read, was “too fey”, Colin Farrell “too sleazy”, Eric Bana “not handsome enough” – and Ewan McGregor “too short” at 5ft10.
That’s just cold. Okay, we’ll give them Colin Farrell, ’cause the man personifies sleaze, and yeah, the Ewan excuse is lame, but is there any woman here who thinks of Hugh Jackman as “fey?” If Jackman is what Hollywood considers a sissy, we’re all doomed.

Stormtroopers in Times Square to promote Battlefront II. NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared it officially Star Wars Day.
TFN tells us Brtish network Sky Movies has the rights to run all six films. Except TFN forgets to mention the whole British thing.
More pirated versions of ROTS will be turning up any day now. Entire internet says “duh.”

Comic Continuum has pictures of James Marsters from Smallville’s next (October 20th) episode. They also have a description of the October 27th episode, which has Carrie Fisher guest starring as the editor of The Daily Planet.
(I’ve heard Smallville is really, really awful this year, but what else is new? It can’t be any worse than The O.C., right? Please, someone tell me I’m right.)
In other SW guest star news, Comic Continuum also reported that Mark Hamill will be voicing the Trickster on an upcoming episode of Cartoon Network’s Justice League Unlimited. Hamill infamously played the Trickster in the short lived live-action Flash TV show starring Dawson’s dad, and (of course) voiced the Joker for Batman: The Animated Series. I’d link pictures, but you’re probably off just renting Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back for your Hamill-in-spandex fix.

At a recent ROTS press junket, Rick McCallum leaked a bit of information about the live-action TV project. Comments from him and Ian McDiarmid lend a lot of credence to the theory that fanboy-favorite Boba Fett will somehow be involved. Coming Soon has the best round-up I’ve seen.
