Angel gets the comic treatment, too

Following the the footsteps of Dark Horse’s hugely successful Buffy: Season Eight comics, IDW Publishing (Yes, different publishers… Funny, huh?) is taking on Angel Season Six. But can they duplicate Dark Horse’s success without Whedon? AICN has a preview – judge for yourself.

  1. i’m confident in IDW’s ability to do Angel Season 6. They’ve been doing the Angel and Spike comics for a few years now, and at Comic-Con, Joss Whedon announced Season 6, and said how much he liked some of the most recent story arcs in Spike. Joss’s vote of confidence works for me!

While Joss isn’t writing Season 6, he’s still helping shape it:

Now, IDW Publishing is proud to present the story of Angel: After the Fall, as presented by Angel co-creator Joss Whedon, with a creative team hand-picked by Whedon himself, the Spike: Shadow Puppets team of Brian Lynch and Franco Urru.

btw, Spike: Shadow Puppets is damn hilarious… the Smile Time gang is back, this time in Japan, and Spike and Lorne go to put a stop to it.

  2. i believe the eye loss on Gunn’s part has to do with that final battle of season 5. they’ve done comics showing life post-season 5 when they eventually find each other again and Gunn is sporting the eye patch.
