Time for a new colossal-sized episode of Star Wars Story Talk as Yowie the Skunk, Baby Jawa, and I cover the latest in Star Wars stories, and we have a lot to talk about: a few recent Star Wars events and check out not one, not two, but three Star Wars books! I give a recap of all the Star Wars goings-on at Salt Lake Comic Con, held at the beginning of September, plus talk a bit on Star Wars Day at the San Diego Padres, and dive into three books: the newest Star Wars Little Golden Book: I Am a Princess, and Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy by Jason Fry and the newly released Star Wars Year by Year: A Visual History, Updated and Expanded Edition by Pablo Hidalgo. Plus an update on Wear Star Wars Every Day and a triple dose of Baby Jawa fun time!

→ Salt Lake Comic Con – Always a blast! It’s turning into quite the Star Wars Celebration with a huge amount of Star Wars programming and appearances by Mark Hamill, Jeremy Bulloch, three members of the Lucasfilm Story Group: Matt Martin, Leland Chee, and Pablo Hidalgo, voice actors, book authors, and a ton of fans!
→ Star Wars Day at San Diego Padres (September 8th at Petco Park) – Always fun with friends, but overall a bit disappointing in its official production. Not a lot of Star Wars activity on the field or on the scoreboard, and the main costume groups didn’t seem to be present at all. Plus I’m a bit meh on the Jedi Andy bobblehead. But at least the Padres stomped the Rockies.
→ Little Golden Book: I Am a Princess – Thumbs up! Written by Courtney Carbone and illustrated by Heather Martinez, this Little Golden Book dives into all the qualities a proper princess in the galaxy far, far away should have: basically be Princess Leia!
→ Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy – Want to know more about the history, biology and culture of some of the galaxy’s different aliens? This grade school level book by Jason Fry has you covered with over 40 different alien species from the entire Star Wars saga! Go further in depth with my interview with Jason Fry on StarWars.com.
→ Star Wars Year by Year: A Visual History, Updated and Expanded Edition – With new information written by Pablo Hidalgo to cover 2010 through 2016, Year by Year is a treasure trove of the real world history of Star Wars, from the earliest influences on George Lucas, to the release of nearly everything Star Wars, amid the larger context of history and culture. It’s a little on the pricey side, so if you already have the first version, maybe wait until it drops a bit in price, or until we get another update after the the sequel trilogy is completed.
