Björn Hurri has a number of great steampunk Star Wars drawings he’s sharing over at Gorilla Artfare. I was pretty impressed with his Yoda (clickthrough for the whole thing) and Leia, but there’s plenty more and they’re all fantastic: C-3P0, a jawa, a speeder bike, Jabba the Hutt, Fett, a stormtrooper, Chewbacca, Yoda, Han and Luke.
The fandom minute: Mashups, exhibit, interviews
- Mashups: Spencer Brinkerhoff III has replaced our regular Wookiee sidekick (and friends) with Domo Kun. Meanwhile, Bonnie interviews Chris McVeigh about those chipmunk/action figure shots.
- Exhibits: For once, something in my neck of the woods! The Henry Ford (just outside Detroit) is hosting “Out of This World: Extraordinary Costumes from Film and Television” through January. A couple Star Wars costumes aren’t that much, but hey, it’s Michigan: We’ll take what we can get.
- Video: Deadbolt has gathered ten interviews with Star Wars stars dating from the 70’s to today.
Rerun: Millennium Falcon on Ace of Cakes tonight!
We got a look at a Millennium Falcon from Charm City Cakes back in July, and it seems that the Ace of Cakes episode featuring it has finally aired! Alas, none of us got word of it beforehand, but Food Network isn’t exactly skimping on the reruns: Look for it tonight at 10pm. (via)
Matthew Stover’s Big Idea
Scalzi is hosting fan-favorite Matthew Stover in his Big Idea feature today – Stover is talking about his latest book, Caine Black Knife. Which, coincidentally enough, is in stores today.
Etsy find: Tom Whalen’s classy movie posters
Illustrator Tom Whalen sells prints on Etsy in the Strong Stuff shop, including these two for Star Wars (sold out, sadly) and The Empire Strikes Back. See even more on his site or on DeviantArt. (via)
The Clone Wars: Malevolence continues…
The official site has posted a brief shakedown for episode 4, ‘Destroy Malevolence,’ a new webcomic, ‘Ambush,’ and the teaser video.
Fate of the Jedi blurb from Millennium Falcon
So with only a week to go, it’s not too suprising that some folks have got a hold of Millennium Falcon early… And while I wouldn’t post actual MF spoilers (I’m sure you can find them yourselves,) the book does contain a new blurb for the upcoming Fate of the Jedi series, and NJOEers have transcribed it for the rest of us. It’s a bit more detailed than anything else we’ve seen so far, so read it under the cut. Continue reading “Fate of the Jedi blurb from Millennium Falcon“
Out this week: Nothing but The Clone Wars
Those of you not already sick of it can pick up The Clone Wars #2 at your comic shop on Wednesday. But never fear, my fellow Clone apathists – next week finally brings us Millennium Falcon!
Oh, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull comes out on DVD. Duh.
Yet another gaming rumor: Battlefront III?
Could spicing up Trek with a bit more Wars save the franchise?
Also on io9 (Weekend blogging now? Argh.) are a few suggestions for J.J. Abrams, who a week or two ago admitted he wanted to bring a little Star Wars pizzaz into Trek. (I’m sure the Trekkies just loved that.) In any case, io9 tables some suggestions, along with a bit of wholly unexpected photoshoppery.
