ENI shares some new The Clone Wars images, while TFN has covers for some of the upcoming DK tie-ins.
Gate Geek – Dreading over the Dreads?
Yes. It’s been a while. Y’see, there was this trip out to Pegasus. The Apollo developed engine trouble. It was this whole thing….
Okay. Not really. But let’s catch up, shall we?
- Word comes that Ronon‘s dreads will be staying, in spite of the actor’s physical need to have them gone. (The fans were okay with it. Why couldn’t SciFi get over it?)
- Jason Momoa, however, might not be staying past season 6 (assuming they get one). Bummer.
- As if to concern folks a bit more, Jason asked Joe Mallozzi to post pictures of the living room furniture he’s putting up for sale. (No word on how to actually buy it, though, if it’s true and not some Joe snark.)
- In the meantime, Teyla‘s also going through some changes in Season 5. (Slightly spoilery.)
- Discover how Jason’s new dreads wig looks and how Teyla juggles it all when Season 5 premieres on July 11th!
Not to be outdone by a show that’s still on the air, the SG1 news:
- Look which SG1 character is going to be setting up another showdown on Atlantis.
- All kinds of spoilery fun from producer Brad Wright about the upcoming SG1 movie Continuum.
- And he does it again (including SGA spoilers) with GateWorld.
Rowling pens mini Potter prequel for charity
J.K. Rowling is only one of the 13 authors and illustrators that Waterstone’s Booksellers tapped to help raise funds for a British writer’s association and dyslexia charity. Rowling’s contribution is a hand-written Harry Potter prequel outline.

The Phantom Editor strikes back
Remember The Phantom Edit, the controversial recut of Episode I? Well, back in 2005, Mike Nichols took on Attack of the Clones, and blogger Darth Mojo has nothing but raves for his efforts. I’m not convinced, as the edited clip makes Anakin seem like even more of a creepy stalker-type than the original. Nor, honestly, am I really curious enough to download the whole thing. (via)
Clearly both recuts have been around a while – anyone actually made the effort? What did you think?
Wrapping up the weekend of Indy…
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has now been out for almost a week. To celebrate this event, I ate some crispy minty Indiana Jones M&Ms and drank some Indiana Jones Dr. Pepper yesterday. Now that the caffeine headache has gone away, here’s what I learned:
- 2nd biggest Memorial Day opening, with domestically $151 million (after Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End) – and $311 million worldwide.
- JediNews.co.uk and Lightsabre.co.uk have a joint review.
- Scientific American plus a few articles that are tangential to archaeology and the kingdom of the crystal skull.
- Communists in St. Petersburg, Russia are protesting the portrayal of Soviets of that era. What next, Ukrainians protesting Cate Blanchett’s accent?
- Shia LeBeouf’s entrance a homage to Brando in The Wild One? Signs point to yes.
- Indiana Jones vs Carrie Bradshaw: this weekend – will it be Sex and the City.. or Snakes and the Lost City?
- and one of the shorter reviews: The Five Word Review
The fandom minute: Yodaspeak, 501st, art, advice
- Humor: Topless Robot tried to brand May 22 as ‘Talk like Yoda’ day – It didn’t really catch on, but be sure not to miss their twenty famous movie quotes as delivered by Yoda.
- Authors: Troy Denning inducted into the 501st Legion as an Honorary Member by the Empire City Garrison at a New York book signing.
- Sand art: Neatorama finds Star Wars sand sculpture by Mykyta and Egor Zigura disturbing. I can’t imagine why!
- Kids: Mommy, where does Darth Vader live?
Out this week: KOTOR, Dark Times
Due to the holiday weekend, I’m not sure when Diamond will weigh in with the week’s releases, but Midtown Comics is listing Knights Of The Old Republic #29 and Dark Times #11/Vector part 5 for Wednesday.
