Del Rey is spearheading a tribute to author Aaron Allston, who passed away earlier this year, on Saturday, July 26, at San Diego Comic-Con. The Del Rey staff will be sporting Aloha/Hawaiian shirts and encouraging fans to do the same. (If you don’t have anything tropical-themed, tie-die is also a valid option.) They’ll also be giving away copies of Aaron’s novels throughout the day. If you’re not at SDCC, you can still dress up in something sufficiently bright, and Del Rey is encouraging fans to use the hashtag #AlohaAaron on social media.
DragonCon will be memorializing Aaron this year as well – stay tuned for details.
Missing him just doesn’t get easier. I’m thankful for the tributes and hope more support goes towards the Aaron Allston Foundation.
They also wore Hawaiian shirts at ConGregate today in memory of Aaron Allston. There were plenty to be found.
Dragon Con’s Star Wars at DC track was the one who started this little idea. :)
Aloha for Aaron Day at Dragon Con will be on Saturday, August 30th. There will be a tribute panel for both him and AC Crispin that day, as well. It is currently scheduled for the afternoon, but things might move around as the schedules aren’t yet final. So check the Dragon Con app for more details when it’s released.
